I've been using Asterisk (VoIP tool kit) for several years, but I figured I might get a discussion going over here in case anyone else is messing with it. Asterisk has a repeater module, as it was written by Mark Spencer, a fellow ham.

No, but that's interesting VOIP stuff. Another kick in my butt to have a Linux server running here...

Seems to me there were one or two Asterisk fans here. I know one of them was Ryan, N2RJ, but he's no longer among the Islanders. He was running an Asterisk system at his house.
I'm interested, but life's too short.

Be interesting to run a VOIP chat server.
Phone patches with Skype are amusing.
Echolink is even mildly entertaining.

i thought about it but decided it was too much work for a medium that i don't like much.
i have, however, taken several former land lines and converted them to voip service ... can use the sip client on my phone to use these lines whenever/wherever, and the cost is neglible.
