Worth the money?

Must be, W4PNT/Dee did it for years. Man he had those shiny Johnsons at breathtaking prices at the Dayton Hamvention for years and he sold some of them every year. Of course I have no idea if he got his full asking price or allowed himself to be bargained down for sales?

But if you look around the boat anchor restoration business all the best guys have big prices on their work and apparently are still making a living at it. Most have even had to hang out a "No New Patients Accepted" sign like the best doctors do.

W4PNT/Dee has retired and K1TLI/Chuck seems to be the "heir apparent" to the Johnson restoration business that Dee started.

His Ranger II and Valiant be pretty too.

One of my Valiants looks almost as good as those pics and it wasn't restored, just well maintained and always dust covered when not in use by a single non-smoking owner since new, $325.

Not to me, I keep having flash backs to the working Ranger I bought for $30 back in 85.

You need to quit spending money on the Chevelle and find yourself a time machine. ;)

Heh, they all embellish more than a bit. It still looks much nicer than 75% of them I see at a hamfest for 350+$.

I brought up the "mileage" part of boat anchor buying to a guy who had the same stuff for sale at about 6 hamfests in a row down here. He'd put about 2,500 miles on that gear since the first attempt to sell. He wasn't amused.

But he did lower the price to exactly what I'd offered him on the one piece I was interested in at it's first showing!
