In other words, the microcrap speech recognition on XP is pretty bad, makes bad assumptions, and basically unusable.
Thought I give it a try after using Dragon app on my iTouch, and was pretty darned impressive. But you have to be on the internet to use Dragon on the iTouch. The accuracy was amazing.

It proves you cannot train crappy microcrap software to do better.

I turn it on every once in a while for a laugh or when I want Stephen Hawking to read to me.

How do you get it to playback text?

If you meet the computer halfway... it helps. You gotta train the silly things, and train yourself to sound like Steven Hawking. Consistently.
Used Dragon Systems (IBM), and set up a lot of Kurzweil based stuff for CAD digitizing work. Worked pretty well, but it was $pendy way back when. The remnants of Kurzweil is now called VoiceXpress, and I think Microsoft has got fingers in it. Late 80's, early 90's was the last I futzed with it. Mostly because the boss said so. :snicker:
The Dragon stuff really needed a spell checker, but might be better now.
Not much use for it, as I have the tunes cranked. Again. Still.

Turn on "use show sounds" in accessibility options under the sound tab?
Naa, that's backwards. Mebbe you have to have a little hardware I do not have...
AHA! It comes with MS Office, starting with 2002, and it's an option during install.
