I wouldn't think of it anyway but I am deathly afraid of cities (and elevators). Too many cars and way too many people, I get claustrophobic. I typically don't leave my secluded neighborhood (which is still has a larger population than my home town).

Seriously though, moving here was good for me. It forced me to experience cities, which I still don't like, but they don't make me nervous anymore. That is, unless I am driving. As an aside, my wife and I work together. We are together close to 24 hours a day and nobody has died. We take that as a good sign. :-D

I place a lot of the failures on the parents. They expect teachers to be nothing more than baby sitters during the day. And, many will not spend any time helping their kids with home work, or for that matter, don't give a shit if the kids do it or not. Then they blame the school and the teachers for their children's lack of success.

I am amazed at the number of parents that refuse to attend parent-teacher conferences to find out how well their kids are doing, and what they can do to help them with the areas that are troublesome.

When I checked via the supplied tracking number, it appears that it will be delivered tomorrow some time. Five days to travel less than 100 miles. According to Google Maps, I could have walked up there and back in 66 hours. The problem seems to be that it took them until Wednesday to get the package to the Post Office.

Contrast this to a recent Amazon order: I ordered it on a Saturday, it arrived the following Monday.

Yeah, we have a bunch of those around, too. It's amazing how quickly the dogs learn to avoid them. I found a quick way to eliminate the thorns/stickers on the plant. Fire. Just after a rain, so the fire doesn't spread and rage, I light them on fire. They go up like a Roman candle. I have no idea what is so flammable, but it burns of every single thorn. It happens so quickly, it really doesn't damage the plant itself. It is truly an awesome sight to behold.

As far as flowering cacti go, we have one in a pot on the porch, as well as many all over the place. This thing blooms some time during the night, never in the daytime. The blooms die with in a day or so. They are quite pretty, and the insides are very delicate. Nature rocks.
