I hear "zed" daily. Outside of ham radio. I work at an ESL institute that teaches British English and they do not say "zee". In fact, I'm not sure that anyone other than Americans do. I never use the pronunciation "zed". In relation to amateur radio I use "zulu". For everything else its just a plain old z.

For that matter you won't hear me say full stop either. It drives me batty. To each their own, however.

Ah...the ABC song drives my boss nuts. W, X, Y, and Z. xD

Then again, I know there is a "T" in often and I use it.

The grizzlies love to graze on the park's many wild berry species, such as serviceberry, chokecherry, buffaloberry, twinberry and huckleberry.

“ Freaking out about my tortoise's penis!!Franklin is approximately 3 years old and for the past few days he has had his penis hanging out non stop. It first came out when he was taking a poop in the yard. Sometimes he'll suck it almost all the way back in then it comes right back out. When he's in his table he gets dirt all over it and when he's outside sticks and leaves and bugs get on it. My bf read online that this can be a serious problem, maybe his intestines have come out and if the protruding stuff gets dried when he doesn't pull it back in, it has to be cut off. But I also read that when makes become sexually active they like to let it hang out. Plz help! Here are some pics from the first time it came out. Side note- he's been lazy, not grazing as much, but eating nonetheless. I'm so scared right now "

I just got home from work and I woke Frank up, everything is back inside of him right now. Not a single bit hanging out so hopefully it lasts. I misted the dirt and moss on his hide's roof to make it nice and humid, it's about 77 degrees in there. When I woke him up I had to redo the sides and roof of his hide and he laid there with all of his legs spread out, his head erect, and eyes bright so that also seems like a good sign to me. Hopefully the good news continues in the days to come.

Speaking of fermented fungus and the all powerful "mushroom tea" brewed by grandma on hot summer days; damn those pissed off rabbits. Always forgetting to take their pills but they sure do enjoy stamps. I often wonder why there is a need for bunnies in straight jackets. While the songs may be popular one must ponder over what it means to be over and under X's and O's. The monotony of repetition becomes quite redundant. Yet I still can't figure out just what it is that a picture could be giving to the eyes of the fallen. Taking you down into the sorrow of surrender, oh master of the style of the cursed blades of three? Rounding the end one sees the blue-gray swirling circles of death known as smoke. Yum, orange. Thirsty?

No worries, I need sleep. The above is, more or less, what I thought I was seeing while reading posts on another forum.. Nothing to see here.

Hum, I have always put french fries in my burger when I go out. However I don't need to order it that way as I always order french fries with a burger, lol. I don't see this working out well even though I know a lot of people who do this. To me it seems like desperate attempt to gain some new customers or gain back some old ones. They should have left well enough alone over the last couple of years. Replacing their tenders with shitty cardboard nuggets was a big no-no and then switching out their fries for over sized monstrosities that don't cook well. Bleh. I am not a big fast food fan but from the choices that I do have I do choose burger king if the need for fast food arises.

Back home I would have just gone to taco bell. :P Not much better but a little. No golden arches for me, I get ill every time I eat their food.

If by gross you mean cleanliness then it really is hit and miss in my experience. If you mean by taste Burger King wouldn't make my top ten list for "gross". Though, I must say that I have really lost my taste for fast food in general over the past two years or so.

Even without onions, everything there tastes like it was soaked in onion extract. Then there's the smell. Onion and sweat. Then there's the "have it your way" staff which determines what your way is. Pretty consistent on those points at most locations. Since then I occasionally had a Hardees burger but even there they had some staffing issues. An employee who says he hates his job loud enough for the whole dining room to hear and the manager just says, ''don't hate don't hate'' doesn't cut it for me. I don't want that person touching my food and that manager needs to be reprimanded for not taking immediate disciplinary against said employee.

We were in need of some inexpensive furniture for the grandkids move-in so I've been assembling a bit of IKEA stuff over the past few days. While the quality is nothing to write home about by any means, I have repeatedly found myself admiring the cleverness of the industrial designers who figure out how to make bulky furniture pack down into such a flat box and still be relatively easy to assemble.

Started off with a nice salad followed by roasted chicken and potatoes, a dish of rice and fish, then chocolate mousse, and finally a short latte. Quality food with plenty enough to eat coming in at a great price of under 25€ for two people. The real kicker is that the beer was included in the price.

A sure sign that you've picked the wrong restaurant; you go into the men's room to wash your hands, and the head chef is ralphing in the crapper.

All I saw was something green. Might have been a tie, might have been his tongue, I just couldn't tell, and I wasn't getting any closer to find out.

What is the name of those things in the Tom and Jerry cartoons where the bowling ball rolls down the track, lights the match on the chickens ass, the chicken lays an egg, and then blah blah blah. Anyway, I know those things have a name. Anyone remember?

I not sure how it's spelled, but we always called it a Rube Goldberg.

There was a game out in the 90s called the fantastic machine. (and many versions followed) The object was to make a certain action happen, like making a basketball fall through a hoop or lighting the fuse on a rocket, and you had to select all kinds of things to happen to cause the end result. Just like you described. I loved that game, and wish it or something like it, was available for modern machines.

Thanks! It was bugging me not being able to remember.

I remember as a child having something similar to that game in a rudimentary form. It was called mouse trap. :P I also remember having to draw up plans for such a machine in science class.

Question: If the universe is 13.5 billion years old, why is it 90 billion light years wide?

The two are totally unrelated.

We know that the universe is 13.5 billion years old.

This is not related to the size of the universe. The universe is actually much larger than the observable universe. The observable universe is as you (more or less) correctly stated 90 billion light years across. Of course this is only based on current technological limitations.

That averages out about right. We've been here around 20 years, and in all that time, we've never had a single trick-or-treater. I think all the kids must go to town or something. It's a lot less work, and way more productive.

Yup. When we lived in the city, we always enjoyed seeing all the kids and their costumes. Some were quite inventive, and of course, some didn't dress out at all. We used to get at least a couple hundred or so each Halloween. Now all I have to scare the hell outta me is the XYL, and after 30 some odd years of marriage, she's gotten quite good at it.
