You know those big blue-black wasps - mud daubers - which hang around water and flowery meadows in search of spiders? Pants don't work when the sonsa#%&%$es decide to fly up the legs!

I wasn't riding the bike in question last evening; I was putting it back in the garage after starting it up and checking out the engine prior to selling the thing. Got a little too close...

Just installed a JVC KDA735BT receiver in the wife's '99 Blazer; finally replacing the factory radio (which always sucked).

2.5 hours start to finish, 7 beers. Including a little training time w/ the XYL. Looks nice.

That was kinda fun (the beer, not the install). Went mondo smooth though. Kudos, Crutchfield for making it a cakewalk. And YouTube for that 4-minnit video someone made disassembling the dash on said vehicle.

Didn't know that JVC and Kenwood were in cahoots.

Friday night and it's supposed to be 102 here tomorrow. Fuggit...

My mouse starts out even with the base of the keyboard but after some time surfing and posting it ends up moving forward about 6 inches where it collides with the desk speaker. It likely has something to do with the fact that my left ear has been reconstructed on the inside three times since birth. Tubes have been in and out of it for a very long time. I often hear ringing or what sounds like the ocean in it. Other times it seems to be muffled. I have a feeling that one day it will just die and I will hear nothing at all. You could say, at least I have the other one. But I will tell you this. Having one ear not working really screws up your balance!

As I commented in another thread, the Mexican presidential elections were held yesterday (Sunday). I forgot to mention that Sky blacked-out the Fox News channel most of the day. Instead of the regular Fox programming, there was a simple message that said: "De conformidad con la legislación electoral vigente está señal ha sido interrumpida"; which means: "in conformance with the electoral laws in force, this signal has been interrupted". I guess the gov't doesn't want foreign journalists affecting the election outcome. I don't have CNN, but I heard that their signal wasn't affected. Why did Sky single out Fox News?

The last two days have been cool and crisp with a slight breeze, not cold, yet chilly. It feels almost as if it is autumn. This fills me with ever so much joy as it reminds me of the times I would swing to and fro in my hammock under the apple trees ever October and read. It is days like these that I will miss the willow tree. I would lay that and just watch it for hours on end, when there was nothing better to do.

The tax on a pound of shag (fine) cut tobacco in the US is $26. That's just the tax. BushII left SCHIP on his desk for Obama to deal with. He could have vetoed it but no, he left it for the next guy.
You can try ''uncased'' pipe tobacco. This means no sugars, syrups or flavorings. They are available and work fine, once you find a type to your liking, after you break up the cut to a finer state. I use an injector with filtered paper tubes instead of rolling. Some blends I have made are better though, when rolled and unfiltered.
I like turn of the century (1899) English and Irish blends as well as classic Balkan blend. I make these by hand now. Occasionally I'll mix it up with some bright Virginia shag.

See what our Barkeep said below. Which is why I stopped rolling my own smokes in the US. I like imported British shag but damn the price. Weed is almost cheaper! (Obvious exaggeration but it is still up there in cost.)

Also, I keep rolling tobacco here for those just in case moments. However, while we were on our two week vacation my SIL used it all. Pili brought home a carton of prerolled, some roll your own, three boxes of cigars from our coworker, and a bag of hand rolled cigars from the islands. The hand rolled are not uber but they are not bad either. More than worth the 0.40€ each!

Hum, I will have to try that when back in the states. Cut it with shag that is. Thank you for the idea.

As an aside. I cut the caps off my cigars because I like a full cut. I keep the filler and hand roll it with natural wrappers I pick up at the tobacconist for literally pennies. Three caps gives me something about twice the size of an Al Capone.

Do you have a local outlet for the exotic woods? I have one about 1 1/2 hours away. I have made a couple of handles and sold them, I always made them a "Spout Snout" to go with them. Thanks, but I have some ebony, another very pretty wood. There is a Woodworkers Source in Phoenix, about 35 miles from here. They usually have some closeout turning blanks of the exotic variety, so whenever I go in to town, I always make a stop there. There is also a Rocklers out in Scottsdale that I hit whenever we need to go out there. I can't tell you how much I enjoy woodworking. It's so relaxing and soothes the soul. Not a common technique, but it was known to work. Dude pulled it out and it wouldn't receive. I see Jennifer Aniston is getting married. That explains why she hasn't called lately. Well, forever actually.

Man, that can really fuck up the country side, not to mention a car and/or driver. That really says a lot about the safety engineering that goes into one of those vehicles, to crash like that and still be able to walk away with minor injuries is amazing. It looked like the one driver took out a tree or two. I wonder if the huggers are going to try to get this event banned?

Only had three smokes today. After breakfast, after lunch, and just now after dinner. Will try for zero tomorrow.

Id like to get back to my 1 cigar every Saturday and no other smoking. :D Much better than two packs a day, at least.

Good for you Travis. After having smoked for about 80% of my life, I can tell you first hand, your body (lungs mostly) will serve you much better the older you get. Having trouble breathing sucks, and I don't have it near as tough as a lot of my friends. Asthma, bronchitis, COPD, and on and on it goes. Good luck. The first few days can be a little tough, but it gets easier as you go along. My worst times were after meals, too. I radically changed the times from my normal meal times, and that helped. I wasn't use to having a smoke at odd times. Smoking and drinking went hand in hand, too, so I quit drinking as well. Smoking wasn't the only reason I quit the bubbly, but it sure helped.

I thought maybe at the worst, I'd just smoke after sex. I've had an unopened pack for 8 or 9 years now.

Hopefully, because you've given up smoking and not because you've given up sex!

I started smoking at 16 an quit at 18. I started smoking again at 22 until now. Er I have never "quit 100%" nor do I intend to. My Saturday cigar is something I rather enjoy. Two packs a day on the other hand is not something I enjoy, its addiction.

I never could smoke just a little. The last time I quit cigs I went to cigars. Started inhaling those fuckers, and when I quit them, it was like major withdrawal. I had a hell of a time, and swore I'd never smoke tobacco again. After many years, so far so good. God only knows what tomorrow will bring, and she ain't talking, to me anyway.

There is a different charge rate for the so-called "tool-free" numbers if you use a cell phone or call from outside the UK. It would been nice if you were told that in advance. My cell phone warns me if I call these "0800" numbers.
