I've been saving up for quite a while, and my new tower/beam installation begins today.
We're putting up 70' Rohn 25 G,Mosley Ta 34XLW,Ham IV,2 Hangers with pullies for wire antennas.
I've purchased all this stuff new over the last 3 years.
I'm having it professionally installed, weather permitting, everything will be up in 2-3 weeks.
It all started 5 years ago with the building of the new house out from town on 6 acres :snicker:
Yes,I was thinking ahead when we bought the place(I didn't tell her  )
I'll update as progress is made.

Awesome, Mike! Three years is quite a while to wait, but you're doing it right!
Looking forward to hearing the updates ... and to the resulting sked, if the propagation Gods allow it!

Wow ... tough crowd!
Good deal! :agree:
I have a 70' Riverside which is sitting at a friend's house. It needs to come down then get transplanted here. I'm thinking about buying a TA-54XL for 20-6M then putting 11el on 2 and 13-17el on 432 above it.
Really ought to look into a short (20-30') tower for side-of-the-house mounting then put up an Oscar Mode A/B/J antenna arrangement on it. I've got a lot of sat-capable equipment but no antennas for the stuff.

I can not comment on this further without the mental images really going South and when I say South I'm talking about Buttf**k Alabama. Good Lord! The generations of social isolation has taken its toll down there.

Okay,
Everything is staked out,and plans are made.
It's still a little too muddy to get the heavy equipment in.
My guy anchors will be 8' tall to allow my tractor to get under for mowing.
I still need a mast,I'll get a bronze/chrome pump barrel from my former employer for that.We are still on good terms.
I need a 150' run of RG-213,or similar coax for the beam,I run ladderline on wire antennas.
I can't wait to talk to you guys on the air,if propagation gods won't smile on us,we try to make our own.
I'll get pics of the progress(if I'm here),and post same.
BTW,I cant wait to see what an Orion II can hear with a real antenna connected :D
On the transmit side an AL-1500 can help there.
There's ur update,others to follow.

Your avatar's pump don't work, 'cause a vandal stole the handle!
Seeing a "no hotlinking" image sometimes... :D
If you were closer myself and others up here have alot of 1/2 and 7/8 hardline laying around.

Due to 8" of "light wintery mix" in the back pasture, there will be no progress this weekend :wall
We get 6 inches sometimes 8 of "Flurry's" Alot. Atleast we are on the downslide..

Weather permitted progress!!!!
Look at the size of the guy anchors!!!! Think they will stay?
The last 3 are my AL-1500,my new to me 765,and the excellent Powermaster wattmeter.

How much concrete do you expect to use in the tower base?

Thanks guys,
The base requires 1 yard, and the anchors 2 yards each.
Mike
Look'n good Mike..........Congrats.

Good deal! :agree:
Our plans are to do what you folks did - 6-10 acres in the country. Honestly, I wouldn't dismiss buying a hilltop and adjoining valley then putting all of my antennas atop the hill.
Leave a hose trickle on the pour all the next day. The hardest strongest concrete is concrete poured under water. The outside don't cure faster than the inside is what i'm saying. 3000 to 4000 pound #1 stone footing mix is the best. You'll have fun with that set-up..

Update!!!!
Concrete poured today
My tower man sez,he'll be here Saturday to stack it,put up the beam, rotator, hangers, you know, finish it!!!
Hope my coax arrives in time.
Oh well,I'll put that up myself.
I'm not afraid of hights, but at my advanced age,and girth gravity sucks!
I'll try to get more pics.
