View Full Version : What is a good vintage amp for AM use?

Originally had this in the wrong forum...

I've got a pretty good 1958 AM station going right now but I'm just not getting out as far as I can hear.
I am assuming it's the sunspot cycle that's messing with me so I'm looking for some more oomph.

I would like to keep the vintage matching the rest of the setup, any recommendation on a good HF amp circa late 50's?
I don't need a whole kW, about 500 watts or so would be more than enough. Nothing smaller than 250W though, it's not worth the small dB gain at that point.

Well ya gotta match up whatever radio your running,, heathkit or whatever, 3.985am at 8am saturday mornings is thee am net my friend to buy sell swap, alot of knowledge there also
