I borrowed my wife's embossing gun to use as a heat gun.

Tried it on a piece of heatshrink and it works pretty darn good!

So why should I pay more money for a real heat gun when a $20 embossing gun will do?

Did you try it on the adhesive lined heat shrink that comes with the Andrew connectors yet?

Have you tried it for reflowing solder paste with SMT components as was mentioned recently by Tim AB0WR?
Sounds like a method I might try in the future of coarse if someone else tries it I wouldn't mind hearing about it...

Not yet, but I am confident it will work.

BTW, my connectors didn't come with heat shrink. I got the ring flare connectors.

Do you mean the weatherproofing kits?

Yeah, connectors usually come with a nice 3" or so piece of heavy adhesive lined shrink tube. Or at least they used to. Cheap bastards probably discontinued it.

I dunno.

My connectors were two piece where you strip off, file away the middle, flare the shield and screw together.

The part number is L4PNF-RC for the LDF4 connectors.

BTW, I got a sweet deal on some LDF4 grounding kits this weekend - 3 for $20. List price at RF parts is $24.95 ea.
