My wife and I took a ride on the Arcade & Attica Railroad back in May. I know there are a few railfans on the island so I thought I would post some pics I took. For more information about this little railroad click here (http://www.arcadeandatticarr.com/).

Cool pics. Felt like a time warp.

Nice, I rode the old Erie (Conrail at the time, circa '92) from Buffalo to Binghamton. The trestle over the Genesee river at Letchworth state park was breathtaking

Oh sh*t, that's where the guy got off the train while it was still at full speed. :disagree:

I love the A&A. I take my kids on it almost every year and my parents took me on it many times when I was little.

The end of the line where you turn around at the station in Curriers? The road you cross over there is a road I take in between two of my transmitter sites at least twice a month.

That's not the sentiment I was after but yes, at the end he did. He thought the train was stopped in that iconic town of the late 1800's where life was slower and people enjoyed the simpler things.

I want to say lovely kids Kelli but it's hard to tell.
Won't it be nice when everything is OK (after the revolution) and we won't have to worry about such things?

I have 2 daughters, in their 20s now, they spent plenty of time with their OM around trains & railroads while growing up.

Thanks for the nice comments.

Charles, I remember that Twilight Zone episode, one of my favorites.

Bill, the trestle in Letchworth is still there. In my early 20's I took a dare and walked across it. I think back now at how stupid that was.

Kelli, I'm sure your little ones had a lot of fun. They've repainted the passenger cars green in order to use the train for a movie shoot.

:) Yes, they are very cute. And yeah, it's sad that you have to worry so much about who's looking at things you post that you can't just post a pic. People are f'd up.

Neat. I have plans to take them back this year. The fall foliage tours are the best. We last went two years ago and they had restored #18 but were waiting for federal approval to run it, so we we behind the #110 diesel. There is nothing like riding in the open car behind a steam locomotive though, if you are nostalgic enough to tolerate cinders in your hair and face, which I am. ;)

I'd like to reply to Kevin's pics but for some reason all I'm seeing is the word "Image". OTOH, I can see Kelli's and it looks like a lot of fun. Steamtown was fun too, a few too many kids, but then Thomas the Tank Engine was there that day. It meant the regular train trip was a lot emptier.

No pics I'm afraid. A computer virus wiped them out a few years back.

Unfortunately they did not have the gondola car in the consist so I was a wee bit disappointed.

Thanks Rob. I love that little camera. My other body is a D200 with a vertical grip. I use that for the serious stuff.

Hmmm I wonder if the server hosting them was down when you took a peek.

I've never been to Steamtown, but Kathy and I were at the National Railroad Museum in Green Bay a few years ago. I'll have to go through those and post a few when I get a chance.
