:D any one have any plans/specs. for a home brew with gain, i built a 1/4 wave with
good swr , but no gain.???? :-? :-?
I am confused.
Are you building a dual bander with gain or two monobanders with gain?

Yes what do you want to do exactly a half wave at 70cm is only 13-14 inches so one could easily build a multi element Yagi for whatever gain factor you might wish to achieve. How about a nice Corner Reflector which is similar to a parabolic dish. Hmm what is the wavelength of satellite TV I thought I saw something on recycling them for either WI-FI or Ham usage... Time to google again...

Check this one out 13 dbi

PS: There is a horizontal loop type, can't recall a proper name for it, that can get about 2dbi gain.
This one below is a full wave length long for HF usage, similar idea and 440 being in the 24 inch range makes such an antenna feasible...

Oops pasted wrong link in earlier

Well, the hustler G6 is a colinear. I guess you can try to make one. I don't know how else you can get that much omni directional gain.
There is a 440 MHz repeater in SE Arizona that uses a (GET THIS!) a brazing rod as a TX antenna.....and it has quite good range for a 3W output repeater.
You can get those at Home Depot or Lowe's.... and brazing rod is a hard brass alloy which should be easy to solder and last a long time.

Or... buy a 6-pack of coat hangers and build a yagi.

Or have an abortion.
Oh wait. Never mind those are still legal.
