When I saw this place I slammed on the brakes

Hey Albie...here's your "brick" train station.

One of my fav places (good for skinny dipping) till they ran a bike/pedestrian path right adjacent to it.

Hi Deerie

(on D way home now)
Flathead Lake at West Shore state park. I was looking for a place to skinny dip but too many peoples here.

Too bad those old ribbon rails are in the pic. Otherwise a perfect shot.
This place was nice. Had it all to myself and did the buff swim thing here too:

This dry creek bed, undoubtedly a torrent during the spring runoff, led me down to the river.
Those Ponderosa pines were huge. Probably 300 years old minimum, and they are all over the place over there.
A couple miles downstream from Perma on the Flathead river.

downstream (the original Northern Pacific Railway [Dixon Line] now the Montana Rail Link)

a 10 minute rain rolled through, just enough to make things interesting

Hey, what you lookin at? (Antlered buck on right, doe on left)

Looks like it does around here, but the treeline is lower in MT.

I looove MT, and would move there if I could find a job.

Thinking about visiting Bozeman soon, via motorcycle.

Bozeman is cool.
Kalispell is at least as bad as Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. The population growth and sprawl there are mind boggling.

You have made me sad, because that's home country and I'm out here.

Nice set of pics. FWIW, I don't think the ribbon rail spoils that shot. I think it adds interest to it. Without it, it'd be a cool shot. With it, it's a cool shot with extras.

Bozeman was cool. It's turned into California North over the last decade. It still has its charm, especially in the neighborhood around MSU, but it's going down hill fast :(

Gotta agree about Kalispell. I was appalled when I was through there last year. Hamilton, which also used to be a favorite of mine, has gotten just as bad.

Everything has gone to hell.
Those big dark maroon Flathead valley cherries were for sale everywhere. Too bad I'm not a fruit eater, but I did have a crepe filled with fresh picked huckleberries and also some homemade huckleberry ice cream.

I'm fluent in Mandinka too.
Mogambo: great white hunter
Tse tse: very small breasted woman (not to be confused with the Mubutu word, which refers to a flying insect)

I guess that's why she would be wearing a teenie weenie yellow polka dot Burkina Faso.

Great shots. Really liked the skinny dippin' spot. It looks like a city park it's so nice.

I spied an overgrown dirt road coming into the highway and took it. Looked like no one had been on it for at least a month.
That's the nice thing about low population density, there aren't enough people to go around. :agree:

the creek bed looking away from the river to where the RR crosses. Note the rivets, I'll bet the structure is pushing 100 yrs old.
