I know that Alaska is well represented here, so I thought I'd ask a favor.

My friend Phil, 2E0PLA, is looking to confirm Alaska for WAS.

Would any of you Alaskan hams mind helping him out?

By helping him out, I mean arranging a sked for him to work and confirm Alaska. I'm his QSL manager, so the card would go to me. I'll even send an envelope and postage.

You can email him at bornablue_at_yahoo_dot_co_dot_UK

Many thanks!

P.S. I'd like to confirm AK on other bands for myself (right now all I have is KL7LF on 20m SSB) but I have to get some low band antennas up...

GOOD LUCK!

I finally (after 30 years) got a card out of KL7 land.

Why is it that most of the KL7's on 20m PSK31 are either in Arizona or The Dakota's??

I confirmed KL7LF by a stroke of luck - He was calling CQ on 20m, and paused for any mobiles or QRP stations. I was on my way home, so I gave him a shout. The QSB was incredible, so we just managed to hold it long enough to do the exchange...

That very evening I wrote up the card and mailed it out.

I takes 250 cards for 5BWAS. I have 248 of them (dating back to 1970). Missing AK on 40 and 80. AK needs to have a QSO party.

Worked AK 6 times in the last 3 years according to the log, all on 20 meters.

I've got tons of KL7 QSL cards. Working them from Seattle was shooting fish in a barrel. :) In fact, I've probably worked more KL7s from there than any other state except perhaps CA.

My advice? Go operate in Washington.

That would be nice but I would have to contact 50 states from washington since WAS rules say all contacts need to be made from locations within 50 miles of each other.

Until we get our beam back up, the Northern East coast is directly off of the RF null at one end of all three of our dipoles.

Thanks anyway, Dave.

Like I said, it isn't for me, it's for my English friend.
