What a beautiful day for a hamfest it was yesterday, especially out there in the prettiest part of NJ. Had a great time...

Here's the boat anchors I saw....

One guy had a table with a 75A4, an HRO-500, and a 51J3. No prices shown & I couldn't afford to even ask! (Ah, but I drooled all over the HRO-500 for a while.)

Next to him there was an HT-32....I think the asking was $300 or Make an Offer! That was on top of a Johnson Viking 6N2 Thunderbolt that was marked Sold. That guy also had an HT-33 marked $900.00. (Right!)

Another guy had a kilowatt matchbox in great shape with the meter & coupler. He was asking $300, but he was probably willing to talk. If I had a use for it, I probably would have talked to him. Some of us consider that the finest antenna coupler ever made. And one in great shape complete with the meter & coupler is worth that kind of money.

Saw an Apache...didn't ask the price.

And one table had a DX-20 with a VF-1. The asking was $120.00...but he's going to have to do some hoss trading to sell those at that price.

Finally, I saw an Eico VFO. That one was frustrating...if I still had a BA rig I would have bought it.

That hamfest was the biggest I've been to this year. It's always great.

I see the DX-20's at hamfest a lot and there usually go cheap. I would have picked up the Eico VFO as it is to be part of my collection at some point. As for the prices; I love to ask the price, the seller always gets a reaction from the look upon my face. :snicker:

I was there incognito for the purpose of avoiding most people in my club that went. It was ok, not as spectacular as previous years though. Hopefully it will get back to normal next year.

Yes it was kinda smallish this year. Spent most of my time hanging out at my club's table inside. One of our members won the ID-880 in the raffle. I was looking at an AL-811. The thing looked like it was beat to shit(scratches I don't mind, but when you see small dents you begin to wonder), and he wanted $500 for it. I was pretty sure that there was an issue with it when I used if I could take a look inside, and got a resounding NO. Overall it was a nice day, saw some cool stuff. But I didn't buy anything.

Sounds like a jackass. Clearly a rip off artist. If the wind was right I would have found some mischief for him to take the rap for.
