Just a slightly different variation on the same basic noob bashing if you aren't a 5wpm Extra well you must be absolutely no good. Unfortunately I think the hobby is going to be way different in a few years. Some, the more intelligent ones, may be right in where they see things going wrong. Well sometimes things change and while some of us may not like it other might?

That is why I created the topic "Why isn't this happening?" which was about voluntary/optional code tests.
It was really a psych test, devious of me right, I just wanted to see what kind of responses I got. I think it got two positives and the rest just turned back into noob bashing.
I mean what the heck instead of whining the hobby is dying and instead of expending so much energy trying to keep the code test. Why the heck didn't the lazy, so called, elites just step up to the plate and do something positive. Nope their joy is in bashing others and they are not the cream of the crop. There are elites out there but you won't see many posting there.

I am just giving the new guy a rub. I don't hate CB'ers, I was one. That's how I got my start. I learned a LOT in commercial radio, that helped me the most. But CB whet my appetite for radio

I couldn't resist just had to do one more and point out some info on that CB Amp topic "Is this really an amateur radio amp" couple of idiots are stepping in to defend it as legit. But besides me pointing out that Worth-More electronics is operated by K5JLI (Amateur Extra 2000) others have pointed out more technical issues. It still seems like a CB Linear to me and I would say it looks like it could be a very skillful ugly construction technique too used in the building of it. Probably some fellow from Texas making a few extra retirement bucks, legit? probably not.

PS: Time to stop we are going to make someone cry and then somebody will lower the boom on me or whoever else participates in this reverse bashing.

First, OM Technician Class Operator KC8FKS, your logic is badly flawed. You assume that posting on a particular subject means you LIKE the subject. Conversely, you assume that if one DIDN'T care for something, he would not post on it. Let me correct you. That's not how it works.

For the record, here's how I feel about CB -- Other than for the occasional Smokey report, it's useless. That's from MY point of view. Truckers, on the other hand, probably find it very useful for a number of practical AND amusing reasons. We can touch on that another time! Other than truckers, CB seems to be populated by folks who can't get a boner unless they are operating a radio illegally. To those people, I say as long as you stay the hell off of 10 and 12 meters, knock yourselves completely out. Enjoy.

Why do I make fun of CB? For one thing, it amuses ME. If it amuses you, cool! If it doesn't, well, tough $#!t. Read the next posting. No skin off my butt.

Also, I'm always amused to see who comes rushing to the defense of Chicken Band and Chicken Banders. Back in the day, we left CB for the ham bands and that was that. We were glad to be out. Today, a lot of the brethren retain an odd loyalty to CB. I have often guessed this is because you can't do NEARLY as much with an NCT license as you can with Chicken Band. At one time, even the Novice ticket was a giant leap above CB in terms of what kind of fun you could have. Ah, but those days are gone, thanks to our good buddies at the ARRL and FCC, who pushed for today's license structure.

So it's fun to tweak CB'ers, and it's even more fun to tweak those who defend CB'ers. And why not? It's all Good Christian Fun. Speaking as your Pope, I have made it so.

By the way, if you read my posts carefully (or if the person reading them to you reads them carefully), you'd note that I tend to slam only a particular KIND of CB'er. Obviously, if you are not like the particular character I am lampooning, why do you feel like I'm slighting YOU... or your friends?? That's probably the biggest mystery. Don't be so touchy and defensive, ferchrissake.
