My son was researching bears online and wanted video. He found a vid by these "hunters" who were the exact type that need to be sent into heavy bear country naked and covered in honey with a pocket knife. These as*holes were WELL out of attack range for a bear when they saw a mom and 2 cubs, none of which were aware of the goons stalking them, they lined up on her and killed her. Leaving 2 newly orphaned cubs freaked out and confused. The jackasses thought it was hilarious...they took off and left the carcass. I found a video on Youtube of these dumbass necks shooting a bear in the face with an arrow for no good reason other than to get a good laugh and assert that they are the dominant species...which i could accept if they killed the bear with just a knife, face to face. But, THESE are the people that PETA should be focusing on, not some of the things they get all wadded up about normally.

Ive met quite a few PETA members, and i must say that i was taken aback by the seething disdain for humans that they seem to carry. Which leads me to believe that their ranks are inhabited by many people with deeply seated childhood issues of abandonment, abuse, etc, as opposed to a genuine love for animals and a true understanding of how the chain of life works, including our place in it. Its more about always needing an enemy to fight the "good fight" against, instead of legitimately searching for a resolve and a return to center.

It was a fly, Oxen in pacifist countries swat and kill them with their tails. The comic strip was hilarious...i just want to know who that extra white arm belongs to.

Bill Maher has handed Obama a sound smackdown in one of his latest shows and correctly named the Democratic Party as the largest obstacle in implementing Obama & Co. policy. Of course Maher is really mad over Obama not making legal marijuana his first priority in office and openly said so in that same show.

ALL of the PETA people that I've met in my life are just plain nuts and many are convicted felons from thier "raids" on perfectly legal businesses in the U.S. I believe that qualifies them as a terrorist organization BUT somebody in D.C. loves and protects these PETA terrorists from their own actions.

Nuttiest bunch that I've ever encountered united under one flag.

i just want to know who that extra white arm belongs to. That's actually Obama's arm depicted in a lesser color density to give the impression of being somewhat "transparent" to show it as past tense and to indicate a starting point for motion. The ending point, is where the arm is in full color saturation to show the motion completed.
Sorry I couldn't help with the other part of your post.

Must be awful nice not to live in bear country.

Normally the bears don't really do us humans any harm as they stay out of their way. But of late the bears have gotten really really bold. Some are going into corn fields and rolling around, knocking down the corn so that their cubs can have some. Sure, the farmer can fence around the entire field, but at what cost?

Actually, the arm question was much more valid, thank you for helping out. I thought it was just another mystery like the "Lincolns extra foot" picture.

Depends on where you buy the fence.

I was born in bear country, grew up in bear country...im now in snake/scorpion/coyote/spider country. Still, shooting a bear in the face with a crossbow and laughing as it writhes around in pain freaking out just doesnt get my willys off, ya know. But i cant stop people from doing it, and where and how i was raised means trying to stop them would get a crossbow bolt stuck in ME too. No thanks. I just wont do it myself unless it was attacking me, or stalking me as they are known to do on occasion. I simply wont go into bear country without a rifle, but i am happy with only one penis, the rifle is just a tool in case things get out of hand. Its not, nor was it ever, an extension of my ego. Even old school hunters dont like guys like that.

Well there is actually a moratorium on any sort of bear killing in the state. You can get a permit to kill bears but you have to get appropriate justification, and damage to crops apparently doesn't qualify in some cases.

As for the method - most farmers will just use a shotgun, not a bow and arrow. Quick, painless and humane death.

Most of the guys i knew used old surplus Garands or Mausers, the SKS would jam up at critical times, but you could always count on the good old M1 30.06. Shotguns spray the bears, and if nothing vital is hit, you have a bear in pain and pissed out of his head. The .06 on station could place a round where it counts. But it really depends on the shooter and their preferences and comfort with a weapon they've become used to, regardless of how unorthodox it may seem. Some guys are deadly accurate and skilled with just a .45, but most of us are just good shots, so a good caliber rifle is a solid way to go into bear country.

Still, the best tools you can bring into bear country are respect and knowledge of the terrain and its inhabitants, like bears. Knowing their habits, diet, etc can go a long way in not crossing paths with them at all, which would work for everyone because the bear usually loses the fight.
