SO2R, who does?

A couple of guys at my club have been talking about doing SO2R (single op 2 radios). One calling CQ the other listening for mults.

Is it worth it?

I've tried it once or twice on rtty just to see if I could do it. It's pretty fun to CQ on 2 bands and work 2 stations somewhat sametime, but I don't think I could go the distance like that without a dexterity melt down. I'm just starting out, not a rookie, but not a big player either. I guess if the contest specifically had the so2r catagory, you could do pretty well if you could keep it up. It was a warm fuzzy to make a few contacts that way for me anyway. I get a bigger rush one radio multiple antennas, and alot of switching on S&P. Kind of neat how different wires hear different sometimes. I think it would take a sweet station/operator to go flatout that way for a 48 hr contest...
Like anything else..try it...you may rock out, but you may some serious downtime at the end. The rtty contest where I've tried to hang in there all weekend take me about a day or so before the diddles leave me head.

I'm gonna be building my way up to SO2R, but right now multi op is more important.

The xyl was apparently "bitten by the bug" at field day. More specifically the CW bug.

She now HATES phone. After seeing CW in action she wants to pound brass.

Tried that. She said the drawl on cw is only half as bad. :lol:
