I'm about to marry into a new family. The father is an alcoholic Mafia don, thrice-acquitted for murder due to sudden witness "accidents." His wife sells meth and heroin. One of her children disappeared and has been missing for years. My bride's brother is serving twenty years for fraud and embezzlement. Her uncle is on death row for murdering a priest in church.

Okay, here's my question. How do I break the news to her family that I'm a ham radio operator? Should I take it slowly or just blurt it out and hope they are not overly shocked?
