I bought a HAM on ebay. It talks on the 10 15 20 40 and 80 meter HAM channels. I ask the man I bought it from if I got to get an antenna and he says it has one built in inside. So far can't get nobody to come back and give me a radio check or a break. Do you think that I need a outdoors antenna instead and how do you hook it up to the HAM set? I'm pissed off because this man on ebay said it would work just fine with the built in antenna in the set. But so far not getting nobody. Can you help with my HAM?

To run THE HAM maybe he should try THE GOOGLE.

Have you tried one of those signal slingers?
I hear they work great around corners and stuff.
Either that or TALK LOUD into the mike.
It'll give ya a couple of extra standing wavelengths.
:D

I think he's taking the circular polarization and rotating it too much. I've heard that hertz the signal and means that you have to use vaseline on the feedline so that the signal has a easier time getting to the radiator. That's always good for those VSWRs. Now if you have SWRs, then you have to use KY jelly. Don't skimp, we're talking DX here.

I just bought me a five gallon jug of SWRs. Probably oooops Prolly more than I will ever need myself, so, if anyone wants some, just let me know.

I've got some of that 'replacement smoke' that you can put in your radio when it smokes :)

Hey, don't be fooled by that bro! When you pour the refill smoke back into the rig, just how do you plan to keep it in those little broken containers, hmmmmmmmmmm? Think about it!

I had the same problem when I bought a ROAST one time. I returned it, and left negative feedback. Beware of buying meat on the internets.

HAM channels 10 15 20 and 40 are the same as CB channels 10-40, just lots more power, 10-4? Just hook up a CB antenna and it'll work fine.

Don't talk on channel 80 because that's the emergency HAM channel, only for if you encounter a genuine emergency, like running out of Otter Pops in the freezer.

Sadly Ross, Little Pepe' doesn't seem to be with us any longer. But its nice to see you on board. If he hasn't already, Mike will take care of getting you full access.

It's cool when you first join here .. there are like a zillion posts to read!

I hope you enjoy hanging out here. I find the "What are you listening to" thread in General Chat one of the more interesting here. It will take a week to go through all those posts! If you don't see General Chat, you will when Mike turns your access level up.

Take Care - 73,
Luke

There are Standing waves (SWRs) and Running waves (RWRs). You have too many running waves. Them waves get going so fast they exceed the speed of light and falls off the end of the antenna and directly into outer space where nobody will hear 'em. You have to keep them in THIS universe.

What you need is the running waves slowed down trying to get past more that are standing around being in the way. You don't want TOO many SWRs though, or your signal will take hours to get where it's headed. The best way to slow the waves down is to drive a heavy nail in the end of the coaxial cable near the antenna. This makes the waves slow up nicely and saves on buying smoke online.

I also take Pay Pal. Right now, I'm offering plans for a handheld device that shoots down UFOs. Just aim the "power dish assembly" at the interstellar craft in question, and wiggle the wobbulator knob until it detunes their stability matrix. Full details are only $2000. A STEAL RELATIVE TO MOST UFO COUNTERMEASURE TECHNOLOGY!
