Has anyone else had these aluminum wheels like i have on my new to me 98 buick. Every time it gets below zero they leak. Not alot, but they leak. Years ago i used to help my brother at bf goodrich. We used gasket sealer with the copper flakes in to seal the beads that would'nt cooperate.. But that was on steel wheels. These aluminum wheel are a pain.. Any suggestions would be helpfull... Thanks...

Whatever you do, DON'T use "Slime" or similar sealant. The stuff will corrode your wheels.

Is it a bead leak or porous casting leak?

Thats what i have to find out. I called a junkyard buddy, he said they do make steel wheels for that year. I told him to keep an eye out for spring, I'll change em when it warms up... If we can't seal em, I'll just get steel rims.. 30 bucks each

I finally found out what i think to be the answer. They do make a rubber bead sealer. But the tires need to be taken off the rims and the wheels checked to see if it's just the bead area that is corroded or the whole wheel. If it's the whole wheel you can either paint or clear cote the wheel and lightly sand the bead area and then apply the sealer. I cannot afford new rims right now as i still owe 1000 dollars...
