Mine is only functioning about 10% of the time (as in tuning). Any tips short of the scrap heap??

Bout all you can do is take it apart and make shure your getting good contact on things, and nothing is rusted or cracked or broken..
I have a Tarheel. If I were to buy again I would go with HiQ.

Almost always, ATAS "not working" problems seem to stem
from poor electrical/RF ground. Try adding a lug and a star
washer, or whatever you feel makes a good contact, under
the nut of the PL259 you use for mounting and
run a braid from the lug to a well chosen, scraped clean,
bare metal ground point on your vehicle/shed roof or
wherever you have it mounted.
