HELP !
I am having a terrible problem and it is driving me crazy.
I've only been a member for a couple days.
Whenever I click on ANYTHING on this website (every time) it takes forever for it to come up. The page starts to come up and then freezes. The little green bars across the bottom of my screen (MS Win XP) all light up, and just stay that way for 2 minutes or so, then finally everything starts working fine and the new page pops up. While this is happening my computer is completely locked up until the page finally completes itself.
It is only doing this on hamisland, not on any other websites.
I am using wildblue high speed satellite internet service.
Is there something I need to reset on my browser?
I have cookies protected using purge ie.
This is making the forum far too frustrating to use. :wall:
Any suggestions ?

I don't have any ideas, Randy, but I'll direct some of our gurus to the question. I may move this to a forum with more exposure.
That's a shame, as this is one of the fastest sites I visit daily.

I have been updating and refresh/purge the cache all afternoon. I have all the pages setup now, so lets monitor the situation for the rest of the evening.
It will be great to know if anyone else is experiencing this problem, please note time, and what style (eTech, prosilver2, etc..) that is used, to help track down the problem.

Randy,
I'm looking into this to see if it's related to any changes we made today. I'm using the style you use to post this (Blue_Night), and haven't noticed any slowdowns.
Others will wander through here and probably offer some suggestions. In the meantime, I'm still looking into it to see if it is an issue on this end.

I stumbled across this thread, and I reply now not out of any knowledge or expertise to offer but only to state that there is no such difficulty at my end.
This site loads as fast as any I visit; indeed, it is faster than some -- I often have to wait two or three seconds for Firefox's tiny "thermometer" to fill on QRZ, but here it is almost too fast to notice it ever appeared.

What's really confusing is that my laptop works fine, it's just on my desktop PC that it is giving me the problem, and both are running the same software and same setup (as far as I can tell). :wall
I've tried accessing the site from a variety of platforms (Windows, Linux, etc)...from booted CD and "live" (run from hard disk) OS installations...different workstations...locations. Any combination which can be easily tested.
The Island always loads fairly quickly, no matter the OS or system configuration.
Look in your 'Hosts' file and see if something's amiss...

Type...
about:config
in the firefox address bar.
Make sure your settings match for both machines.

I went in (using my laptop) and changed styles from blue night to pro silver.
Then I went to my desktop PC and logged in and WOW ! It is now working properly.
Must be something about the blue night that disagrees with my desktop PC.
Maybe my PC was "trying to get India" ?

Popular destination, that India! :D
I use the eTech style. It goes well with the banner, and is easy on these old eyes, especially displaying forums with new posts. Obviously not for everyone, as only 6 of us here are using this style. Maybe it's the green ...
Glad you got it straight, Randy. Maybe something in that template that gave your video card heartburn!
