What to Wear

A friend of mine, K9CJ, is planning an adventure to the great state of Alaska on the 12th of July. He is asking me as to what clothes would be appropriate for him and his XYL. I assume it is always pretty cool up there and he may need a jacket and sweater, but whaddo I know? I am just an Illinoisan.

Does anybody know what to wear there?

Seems like every picture I see from Alaska, they're wearing plaid. I think it is camo to Bears.

Temps can get into the mid 70's sometimes. When they hit 75 or higher the headlines are screaming heatwave.

At night it gets into the 50's.

A jacket or sweater is a must if you are not used to the lower temps.

Depending on the summer, a raincoat or suntan lotion may be necessary. July averages about 3 times the rain in SouthCentral AK as May, but the thing to remember is that Alaskan weather is .... variable.
