I just picked up a couple of TRC-101B's for 10m conversion.
Simple crystal swap and tune up or something far more sinister?
(Just to keep in the spirit of the thread I also picked up a TRC-200, my first foray into the land of good buddies!)

If you want to convert a cb to 10m, pick up a Cobra 2000GTL

Pretty cool, but what I was after was a 5w handheld I could just carry around with a long wire to toss into a nearby park tree when conditions sounded good.

What's a TRC101B, a walkie talkie? I know how to mod a Cobra 148/2000, Uniden Grant, Madison to 10 meters without any parts.

Also you might want to try contacting an aquaintance of mine Egbert C Craig WA2SI, he has done this with a few CB walkie talkies for sending qrp CW if I remember correctly wa2si@arrl.net

I have converted several old tube type CBs . It's usually just a matter of imstalling a 10 meter crystal & retuning the transmitter. If it has a tunable reciever, just re align the Ifs and ocs.

Got that chart, but thanks for the link!
Figured it wouldn't take much, just a quick recrystal/realignment.
Wasn't sure though, I've been seeing other claim it was much too involved so don't bother.
Appliance operators I guess. ;)

I've modified a number of cb's for 10 mtrs just change out the xtal
and a quick alignment and your good to go. You only need to change a couple of the 33mhz xtals to give you the am part of 10mtrs Good Luck.

That's what it looked like to me as well, 4 crystals for 23 channels.
This is WAY cheaper than picking up one of the under powered Mihuzo's or other specialty HT's for 10.
