Since I have been to Japan, I am now the expert uber alles of Japanese foods.
Beef.
Cut beef into chunks. Serve.
Chicken
Cut chicken into chunks. Serve.
Fish
Cut fish into chunks. A bit larger than the beef and chicken so it is harder to get to slide down. Serve.
On the table, have soy sauce and wasabi ready to go as well as the number for 911 queued in the cellphone. Beer helps as well.
Ask many times if the diners enjoy it. Eventually they will if they have never had it before anyway.
