as one of thosenewer upgarded tech I am observing that I get the 6m opening I expect but have yet to see 10 open up at all

(My set up are simlar on both band 1/4 wave gp on 6 and 10 I even have more power on 10 (100 vs 50 but 10 is staying loccal while 6 is getting out there

any explanations? or is the ionoshpere just playing tricks

What you are hearing is the beginning of the sporatic -E season. These openings will happen more often beginning around June, and continue through the summer. If the MUF makes it to 6 then 10 is usually open too. Could be that nobody is on. Next time you hear an opening on 6 listen down the bottom of the 10 meter band for propagation beacons. It's also a good idea to listen for beacons on 6 as well. There are times the band may be wide open but nobody is around. Good luck.

When you are working with the MUF, do which ever puts out the most. Those bands work differently.
