I know I'll make it through,
all do.
Even those stillborn have achieved the goal.
The best things always bring eventual boredom and sorrow.
Leave me alone, I'm ok.

Song lyrics?
We are prisoners of our minds

You know Bill, we have talked of this before and it is always good to revisit Ms. Dickinson.
I'll swear the read from the chick has nailed it so many times for me at least.
YMMV

g1. tnx.
Another blend of joy and sorrow (the most deadly kind).
What a marvelous, brilliant, and diseased mind she must have had. She clearly was a victim of some weighted melancholy of extended duration. This one speaks of a high, perhaps M/D?
I sometimes fantasize an encounter with her, in her world but alas, fear I would be immediately dismissed.
I posted this one here a while back:

It's often what you don't say
that speaks best
but then,
you don't know what was heard
