I don't know how many of you are fond of Pennsylvania Dutch cooking, but one of my all time favorites is Chicken or Ham Pot pie...

To start with you need the following:
1 Whole Chicken or
4 Fresh Ham Hocks for Ham pot pie
4 Cup of Flour
4 Eggs (1 Egg to 1 Cup of Flour)
Onion diced (one medium size onion ought to do)
10 Seedlings Saffron
5 pounds potatoes (Or as many as you can fit in the pot, I estimate normally)
1 Onion for placing on top
Salt/Pepper
Water

Directions

Place cold water into a soup pot. Fill at least half way
Place bird or ham hocks in pot, remember to take gizards, hearts, etc out of Chicken
Let boil for about 1 1/2 to 2 hours

While your meat is cooking away you could be doing other things, among them
Watching porn on the internet
Watching sports on TV
Preparing ingredients

I'd much rather prepare ingredients because damn this makes me hungry.
Dice up 1 onion , place in bowl
Dice up potatoes and quarter them, place in bowl of water until chicken is cooked with water to keep them fresh

Prepare dough...
If your have a dough mixer bless you, but for us that don't, place flour and eggs into bowl, add salt to your liking, mix dough up. Roll dough out to thickness, and cut into squres. Me personally I like my pot pie with doughy noodles.... Place on Wax paper and flour to keep from sticking to each other

When your bird/ham hocks are done take them out. They should fall apart when taking it out. This is when they are done! Place on plate to let cool before picking off meat.

Take potatoes out of bowl of water and add to your chicken brother (If you have cooked your meat correctly you shouldn't need outside help with the broth and shouldn't need to add store made broth)
Add diced onion & saffron
Cook until potatoes are done to your liking
Add your pot pie noodles, cook to liking

Take out of pot and place down your gullet, adding onion, salt, & pepper to taste.

This makes for some darn good meals, cheap. Highly recommend it!!

Yes, our chicken pot pie is awesome. Well, depending on where you get it. A nice heaping bowl with some ground black pepper on top and you have one of the best meals a man can eat.

You think the possum recipe is a strange concoction, there was once detailed instructions on cooking fellow humans. The instructions involved a spit, and a very hot fire underneath. Instructions for how to cut portions and everything. Guess it's too sick for this thread though...who wouldv'e thunk, humans as food?

Possum is not bad. Raccoon is pretty gamey, but if you cook it right it has a rather unique flavor.

Actually, and this is no joke, squirrel pot pie is excellent. Very lean, very mild, and pink. Like poultry, almost like dry duck.

If you don't mind picking size 7-1/2 lead shot pellets out of your dinner.

I thought lead shot was illegal.

Like I actually am going to read a recipe. I get crude oil out of the Arctic, and the little woman gets food on my plate. ;)
