Anyone out there eat sushi and or drink shōchū?

I tried these things in Japan a year ago for the first time. Wow. That sushi was tough to go down the first time, but now I eat it like a pro. I really like the stuff now. Strange.

Sushi rocks, I go out with my wife once or twice a week for it.
We moved to the neighborhood we live in because it has the best sushi in Boston.

there's hope for you Jerry. In time you might even distance yourself from the "White Trash Casserole".

I love sushi, got hooked on it when I was going to foreign language school...my son LOVES sushi but out here in the middle of nowhere, there ain't no sushi. My wife won't touch it. I figure no matter where life takes me, I'll eat whatever the locals are eating. It's worked for me so far, and my son has pretty much the same attitude about food. Don't know about the drink you mentioned, I don't believe I've ever had the opportunity to try it.

I really like sushi as well.

The rest of the family will not even try it, so I usually go out with friends or grab some on the go when I am in the mood.

Tried making my own a time or two. Fun to make and even more fun walking through the oriental grocery looking for the next exotic ingredient to try.

What about Shochu? Stronger than sake. Popularity is spreading across Japan like wildfire. They have sweet potato shortages.

I like the stuff. It has a good taste.

At one time, this was only the drink for the lower class. I guess it is their green bean casserole.

My analogy would have been PBR. ;)
