Walked out the back door on Wednesday evening and heard a croaking sound like a 2 stroke engine..Well, to our surprise, there on the eucalypt tree near the gate was this little guy cheeky as you please....Jeannie grabbed the camera and took a few pics....In recent times these little fellas seem to find their way to our place regularly...They don't stay as they are generally traveling to find new mates etc..Cute though..
Pic of a native bee on a freesia...We have thousands of these tiny bees at present all over the garden...They don't have a sting and are quite friendly..
Enjoy....Bob..VK3ZL..

It's always great to see the things going on in your backyard Bob!
Speaking of bees, I couldn't help but notice the lack of them in my yard this year. Can't remember seeing a single honeybee. At all.

All we see around here are raccoons, opossums, rabbits, and the occasional bear.

That's way cool Bob! You not only build awesome amps, but you get to see koalas while doing it :)

Well, at least opossums are also marsupials. We have those here, too as well as raccoons, skunks and the occasional coyote--one of which ate the neighbor's chihuahua not too long ago.

Thanks guys....I have always loved native animal and bird life...Like all continents we all have our unique wildlife and flora...Australia is very dry inland but there are still hundreds of species that survive in the most unlikely areas....We seem to have the most toxic snakes and spiders along with various poisonous types of sea life here but in general they do not impact on our life all that much....I will try to get some pictures of our Copperhead Snakes this summer...We usually have a few visitors to our garden along with Tiger Snakes and a variety of lizards...Our Copperhead Snake is very docile, although poisonous, but he has the most beautiful shiny copper skin...As I live in the South East of VK land the weather is very temperate similar to Georgia in the US...We don't have crocodiles or many of the other animals which live in Tropical Australia, but along with Kangaroos and Wallaby's, a few species of Possums, Emu's and a huge variety of birds we still have our share of wildlife here..Jeannie and I often take small trips away to interesting bush areas with a cut lunch, thermos etc and go for walks on bush tracks...It is especially nice here in the Spring when all the local wildflowers, Orchids etc are in full bloom...However, once our hot summer arrives the bush dries out and it is a risk to walk there becausr of our horrendous bushfire risk....
Enuff for now...The old boy tends to ramble along sometimes in his dotage....
