Wow. What happened to the Shelby hamfest? Just the mere mention of the word used to literally blow a forum thread up! Has this hamfest lost it's appeal?
BTW - it's a money thing for me. Still reeling from recent long term unemployment. Paychecks are vaporized around here the day they hit the bank. And I really need some 'stuff', like PL-259's, 450 ohm ladder line, barrel connectors, coax, and of course, Knobs. Everyone needs replacement Knobs.

OK.
Looks like I will be traveling to Shelby sans ham friends. Won't be a shopping trip but mainly to take the test for extra. Testing starts at 2pm. I know, right?
If any of you actually arrive there, call me at eight six four three five four twenty five thirty two..................... at or after 12pm.
Peace, Love and flowery raisins.

Good luck on the Extry test, Charles! I'm starting a class to study for mine next week, hope to test for it in November or December.

Thanks :)
I used to just have to read the material a couple of times but now I see it takes longer.
Good luck on your studies and be ever vigilant. Remember to drink your Ovalteen.

That's the way it was for the tech and general tests--piece of cake, read the ARRL books a couple of times and I had it down. I started in on the extra questions, though, and ran smack up against the math. I've never been good at math, so when the ARC announced a free extra exam course, I jumped on it.
Good luck on your studies and be ever vigilant. Remember to drink your Ovalteen.
The price of hamdom is eternal vigilance, or something like that. I'll go right out and buy me some Ovaltine if you think it will really help.

When you pass, are you going to go for one of those Extree special callsigns, Charles???
Relax and go for what you know, you'll do fine!
...and technically, you could crap out on all the more serious math questions and still pass.
Godspeed man, and have at it!
