Awoke yesterday early, about 8 AM local, ^ AM California time.(From now on, all times will be in logbook time, terminal time.) Forrest City, Ar is small, and there was no room at the closest truck stop and rest area, so I parked the rig in a value store parking lot behinsd some fast food places. No Starbucks, though. Hit the road east shortly after.
I choose the I-40 to Nashville to I-24 route because it was faster with fewer complications, even though hwy 64 was about 75 miles shorter, it passes thru several small towns with their stop lights, reduced speeds and single officer police forces looking for truck drivers. I saved at least 2 hours.
Fueled up and showered in a tiny town by the hwy 231 and I-24 Jctn, and continued on my way, arriving in Shelbyville Tn.at 1PM. I parked the rig in a Wally World parking lot that trucks seem to gather to drop their loads at the Wal Mart Dist. Ctr.A sign proclaims "No Truck Parking". There are close to a dozen of us. I have a long wait to drop my load of strabberries tomorrow morning, with little to do in this town for recreation except eat too much.
Awoke this morning just after 5 AM. After running my rig while I changed clothes, I noticed the air warning light and buzzer was still on. For some reason my number 3 air system was not filling. Probablly the same air leak I can not find that depleats the tank within 10 minutes after shut down. I shut the rig down, fearful I may have a major road service bill, but after failing to find the leak, I fired the rig up, and #2 aired up just fine. #1 is for the brakes, and #2 is for the shifter, window, air bags, and a few other things that make life difficult if it doesn't work. I made it to Wal Mart just in time.
After waiting a spell for my trailer to be off loaded and paying the lumper fees, I returned to the Wal Mart lot. I am going to be here until Monday, at least. Will reset my logbook, and overeat again.
Did some repairs to my trailer lights, installed the new stereo I bought last month but let lie on the floor of the passenger seat, caught a cab in and out of town to do my laundry and I am stuck here. I own the rig and pay for the fuel, but If I drive 40+ miles one way or the other, I could be adding distance to Mondays pickup.
Enjoying the new stereo. 10 Meters is dead. The C.B. is active with only wal marters and townies with nothing interesting to say. Flirted the lady cabbie, but I really do not think she will visit when she is off duty. Besides, no real attraction or intrest.

I saw a slick HF install on the way home from Gatlingburg... a low-boy trailer with a 2x4 stuck upright about halfway back the side of the the trailer, I thought it was rather interesting that this board was stuck up in to the wind, until I noticed that one end was connected to a box (assumed to be an SGC2000) and the line run up the board was actually an antenna.
I drive a 1995 Freightliner conventional with a 53 foot reefer van. My antenna party includes co-pased 11 meter whips, a t.v. antenna and cell antenna and computer internet cellular antenna on the right mirror mount, and a ham stick on the left.

Well, Sunday was as boring as I had perdicted. Caught up on my reading. 10 Mtr dead. Discovered that when my new stereo gets warm, it cuts out. Gotta replace it, but Freightliner said I can only do so at the store I bought it from. Pheonix,Az.
Oh, well.
Monday morning, according to the magic pen, I was dispatched to Kentucky to pick up a dry load of magazines. A U.S.P.S. load. So, according to the magic pen, I left bueatiful Shelbyville, Tennessee behind me.
Hwy 231 north to I-24 west(north really)thru Nashville toI-65 north to Kentucky,thru Bowling Green, which is really pretty,up to Elizabethtown, then east on a really neat turnpike to hwy 150, a windy, smallish road on to Danville. The broker kept calling me to see if I arrived, a bubbly twit of a woman. I am always suspicious when they show that much intrest. I usually get an overweight when they try to make me feel special like that. Anyway, according to the log, I arrive at the shipper shortly after 12 terminal time, which is 3 hours behind Kentucky time.
They would not let me observe the loading. I never like that, expecially when they tell me to wait inside my truck, that they will bring my paperwork to me when they are done. I hang out in the warehouse until a foreman told me to stay outside.
An hour later,(logbook time) I was told I was ready. I went to the office and picked up my paperwork, and again tried to look in my trailer, but the door to it was closed, and the whole crew was punching out. I pulled away, and when I went back to close my doors, I noticed I was loaded to the rear of the trailer. The BOL said I was just over 44000 lbs, so I decided not to sweat it. Tried to call the broaker, but the machine was on instead of bubbles. I decide to go without asking them to redistribute the load a bit.
Hwy 137 north to I-64 west toLouisville, thenIp65 north intoIndiana. I stop at a Love;s truck stop in Memphis, Indiana to top off my mains and reefer, and to weigh my load.
Should have weighrf before I fueled. 81220 lbs. And most of it over my trailer tandoms. I hate brokers. Can't wait to tell bubbles where she can blow next.
I dixk around for too long, adjusting my kingpin and tandom slides, and finally equalize it, but I must drain fuel from my reefer tank to lessen my weight. I buy a 5 gallon jug, so I can pour it in my mains when I burn some off. Later, after I "deal" with the scales, I will mess with my slides again, and possibly go to some warehouse somewhere and pay some guys to dick with my load, so I cam put my tandoms foward where they belong, and put weight over my drives where it belongs. Then all I have to do is not fuel up fully, and maybe I will be o.k.
Had problems with my secondary air again. Gotta get it looked at. Cashed a T-Check so I have some cash. Nice weather. It is fall approaching. But I still need to fun A/C nearly all the time
According to the logbook, I went off duty at 8;PM terminal time well into Illonis on I-73, which I picked up in Indianapolis. I am due back on duty at 6 Tuesday morning. I have only a couple of days to deliver to the Bay area. I bitched to the dispatcher, but he said pick it up anyway, and deal with the problen later.
The IRS is waiting gor my back taxes, but the carrier is draining my pay so I have little left over. I emptied my savings to pay bills instead of taxes.
I have a bad feeling about this.

Up at ^ AM. On the road, I-74 to just before oline, Il. at the Iowa Border, where I skirted the scale there. About8;30, pulled into world's largest truck stop.
, "Iowa 80" in Moline.
Bought a souvener t-shirt, and spied the dentist. The truck stop is like a mall, with stores, a food court, and other businesses. I had been nursing two teeth gone bad with advil for dome 6 weeks now, so it is time to deal with that issue.
Two hours later, with two empty spaces in my unfeeling mouth and jaw, I return to the road. Stopped at a warehouse and bargened with some workers and a supervisor. Fourth bucks to re-arrange my load, all of 30 minutes. I am broke again. The dentist cost me a 300 buck t-check, so I amin the hole big time again. Called dispatch to notify them of my progress and to get another t-check.
All of the scales on I-80 thru Iowa are closed because of the weather, Ran into a thunderstorm in DesMoines, and a really scary one when I enteredNebrasca at Omaha. It is now really late, and I pulled into a truck stop to drain my reefer tank into my mains, and to adjust my slides again. I am now just a few hundred over, with just under half fuel. Barley squeaked by first scale.
Used the magic pen to have a logsheet with a late start time, incase I have to produce it. Will not discuss this again. Off duty offically 5PM. Gotta get a little sleep. Fueled up just 50 gallons earlier, so I now show one half. Let us see if this gets me thru the scale just up the road this morning when I go back on the road.

I'm just amazed that he is openly admitting to fuel tax evasion and weight infractions, and possible logbook falsification i.e. "the magic pen" comments. Not a good thing to do either in real world practice or open admission on a board where your name and address are a matter of public record.
But yes it is entertaining. I just might start one myself one of these days.

He is NOT afraid to point out his views. If ya wanna search, go back through his archives to the months after Katrina and listen to some of his shows.

I tried that once. After writing the title, there was nothing to do.
Been interested in writing something about American business and how effed up it is, but with my luck it wouldn't sell and I'd get fired for making it too accurate. :lol:
Takes are paid for every gallon that goes into the reefer tank. I just view it as kind of an emergency fuel storage, so I do not purchace the fuel sepertly from my regular fuel purcheses. Besides, I would only save a few pennies, so why restrict myself by making it illegal to use the fuel there in my tractor in an emergency.
The above is true, and it is an example of a "magic pen", which is kind of a metafor for the use of my intellect.

It has been a few hectic days, and I do not remember the details, but here is an overview.
Blasted thru Nebrasca until the scale at the west end of the state. There I was found to be 200 lbs overweight, but the scalemaster choose not to write me up. Instead, he ticketed me for not having a valid authority, for my bosses "SSZ Inc " expired in Feburary. The boss said he will put "MNG" on the righ like the DOT ordered.
Squeaked thru the UTAH port of entry , and went on to Salt Lake, where I went off duty at a truck stop on the west end of town.The paperwork was up to snuff, but I really got only a few hours of sleep before I continued on. Thus ends Wednesday
Thursday. Blasted into Nevada at 75, and on thru the state and on in to California by way of I-80. Careful gowing down the grades into sa, for I am very heavy, and on to the bay area by way of I-80 to hwy 99 to Ripon to fuel, then hwy 120 to I-5 to I-205 to I-580 and on to I-680 to San Jose. Made it with half an hour to spare.
Friday. At midnite, I off loaded in San Jose, then on to Oakland where I arrived early again. Offloaded and on to Frisco.....
.....wherre I got hopelessly lost, cruising the unfamilluar streets, until low and behold, I found hwy 101 south and .....
..... An hour late. Oh, well, at least it was within the peramiters of the delivery contract. I hustle to Santa Nella, fuel up and shower, and go to sleep. I have, o
ff paper, been on the road 24 hours.
Woken up a few hours later to be asked to go to Laptrop and load a reefer load. My log is now at 15 hours available. I will see what I can do. I load up pork pepperoni, 40000 pounds worth, and disembark to the terminal, to do a P.M. I then do a computer entry, and then, I will take a long nap, for I am back on duty tonight.

O.K, It is Saturday morning. I am on my way. I stop off inLucerne Valley, and take care of some personal, and I am on my way.
I stop at the Yucca Valley gun shop and pick up my new handgun. A 9MM, on the inexpensive side, I also drop off copies of my novel for the shopowner to display to sell . He is a ham also, ans has used ham gear for sale in his gunshop. I lock up the gun and stow it under my sleeper, and I am on my way.
I am officially out of hours hours later in Phoenix,Az. But the dispatcher argued with me about this load, he asked my to load up knowing I was out of hours, knowing I will feel obligated to deliver it to El Paso, TX anyway.
Sunday
I leave Phoenix early, and I am enroute to El Paso, when I get a bug to call a woman I know. While on the phone, I miss a 65 MPH sign. Entering Deming, I know I have to slow down, for I always slow down in this town when I spy a Highway Patrol car in the medium. I am travelling just over 75. Damn! In my mirror, I see him entering traffic and his light rack go on.
The pair were pleasant and professional enough, but not enough so I do not get two tickets. A false log entry for today, for I logged off duty and did not bother to change it, for I thought I could make it and not have to, and 75 in a 65. New Mexico has a preceedure where a driver can essently plea guilty and gat an assessment, a small fine issued on sity. 80 for the speeding and 150 for the logbook. Could have been worse, and I have found this system does not take points from me, although this remains to be seem in this case.I am ordered off duty until 1 AM Monday, and I am now hanging at a truck stop in town. I can still make it to El Paso to deliver on time, but will be in logbook violation when I do.I must also go off duty in El Paso, and not go back on untilTuesday evening or Wednesday morning, Iif I cannot get a load until then.
In Phoenix, I stopped off at the Freightliner dealer,. Parts was closed, just night parts and I could not get my stereo exchanged that day. I have to come by during the week daytime. Crap. My stereo goes out too often.
It is a nice day here, a little cloudy, some light showers earlier, and promises more of the same.
Thank God he didn't get that log violation in California.........
24 SEP 07 Spent the rest of Sunday at a ratty old truck stop. At 1 AM terminal time, I hit the road. Just about 2 hours later, I was in El Paso.
Hung out down the street from the delivery point until check in time. I noticed it is a warehouse that accepts deliveries going into Mexico, andd Mexician trucks come here to pick up. All the Mexician trucks were DOT in Mexico, U.S.A. and Texas, and were all pretty sharp. The Mexician drivers were clean, younger, and in uniforms. And they were saying about substandard drivers and equipment.....
Made my drop, and went to Love's to fuel up and shower. Then on to Petrol to hang out. Dispatch tried to give me a load knowing about my out of service the day before, and being out of hours now, and tried to make me feel incinfedent. I told them in a few days, no earlier. Period.
Got laundry done, watched a movie about Incias by Mel Gibson, and had a BBQ dinner buffet. Gotta stay away from those buffetts. Hooked up the Idle Air to my truck, and hanging out here. Maybe tomorrow I will catch a cab to a movie theater to see what is what.

Up late. Buffet breakfast. (Gotta stay away from those buffetts.) Went out to my truck to hang out just in time to answer my phone.
You guessed it. Dispatch, with a load to pick up.
No, I said. I have one out of service fine, and I do not want another.
This one picks up today, in N>M. and delivers near Fresno Friday>
Friday, huh. O.K, but I am going off duty until Wednesday after I pick up.
So, off I go, illeagel, again. I drive west on I-10 to I-25 north to exit 19, where I take a country road to a warehouse that contracts with chili farmers to dry chili and ship it. I load up on 40000 lbs of dried and crushed chili, to take to a plant that grounds it up further and mixes it with commercial products. I go back to I-10 west, and stop a few miles down the road as a truck stop to weigh and balance my load, and hang out until late tomorrow morning. With the time I still have to deliver, I can stop by the QTH and drop off some purchaces, and take care of personal business.

Up just before 8 and on the road. I am on the lookout for N.M. troopers as I pass thru Deming.
Stopped in Lordsberg Love,s to breakfast and shower, and on my way again.
Stopped at the "THING" at exit 322 AZ, for a banana split and large milk and head break.
About 4 P.M, I stop at Wild Horse Pass Casino. I know I am making a mistake, but with the IRS hammering me with past due taxes, as well as invaladating my offer in comprimiae , I se no end in sight, but to take a chance or two or three and gamble. $ hours later, 500 bucks broker, and hoping I can deposit lots of cash before a state tax payment I mailed testerday hits my bank I continue on my way.
I stop at the Pheonix Frightliner to try to exchange my stereo. No, the only thing I can do is buy another, and have them ship my old one off for troubleshooting. If somthing is wrong, I get a check, if not, I get the old radio back. I write a check.(Damn!)
Installing the new stereo and the same problem occurs. Not the stereo. I hope it is only a breaker. Hours later, when it is cooler, the stereo starts to work.
I go down in Quartsite, intending to drive 100 more miles but too tired. I will do it in the AM, and work from there. Gotta give the magic pen a rest.

Up Thursday way late. No big deal, load is due Friday morning.
Pull into Indio about noon, Fuel ,showerm and off again, after getting a sizable t-ck to bank.
About 1 , I deposit cash to cover state tax payment. Had lunch with Bradly, the gunshop owner in Yucca Valley. He is setting up a corner of his shop for ham radio. If anyone wants to sell used gear, either to him or co-sigment, "Lock, Stock and Guns too" will display them. Bradly plans on errecting a verticle and some vhf antennas so he can have operation gear in the store.
At 2, stop at home, laundry, and drop off handgun at QTH. I am again on my way.
Hwy 247 to I- 15, Barstow, then to Hwy 58, thru Kramer Junction, Thru Mojave, past scales for they were closed, and up the grade and thru Tehacappi, and down the grade into Bakersfield. I see off to the south just before the 58/99 junction the Kern County fair, with the carnival rides predominant. I wonder if Butler Amusements still have the account. They lost so many accounts due to employee ehavior while in town. You figure they would get the hint.
On hwy 99 north all the way to Coachella. It is late evening, and they are still open. I get an officer to inspect the repairs ordered and to sign off my ticket, and off I go, to Turlock.
I am hanging out, waiting for morning to drop my load. The trailer will stink forever. I wonder if a wash out will lessen. No food cargo for a while, for any shipper will take one wiff and refuse to load me.
I am tired and only have a few hours till delivery. On paper, of course, all is well.

Hey, the light is not the greatest in the truck, and it takes some doing to use a keypad expecally a small one on a notebook P.C.

Up early. Made the quick trip to my destination to offload.
Was assigned a load up north a few miles. Drove into farm country on Hwy 120 east a spell.
The farm grows seasonal table decor. Those squashes, Indian corn and baby pumpkins every buys but many people belive were manufacured. Dozens and dozens of acres of nothing but inedible, decorative veggies for the holidays. There was an old prefab office in front of a nasty, rickity old barn, and a large open air packaging area with unpaved loading docks. Dozens of migrant workers were busy sorting, packaging and preparing for transport boxes and boxes of this different product.
The smell of chili peppers was abated somewhat, so I presented myself to the supervisor as ready to load. Linda, the lady who I rent a spot to park my trailer on called just then, and I told her what I was now picking up.
You guessed it. "Bring me some, Robert. The kids would love it. So, I asked the boss, and he allowed me to go to the seconds pile and load up on the best of it I could find.
It was close to noon when I fueled up at Ripon, Ca. and weighed my load. Just over 68000. Not bad, and the trucks performance really is improved with that much under gross. I go on my way south on 99 and stop at the terminal in Fresno to drop off paperwork, and continue on.
South 99 to Bakersfield, 58 east up the grade, I mean I flew up those grades, never going slower than 35, and on to Mojave, where I took a short break before moving on.
Hwy 58 east to I-15 north to Hwy 247 south to Lucerne Valley. I met Linda around back fo the market where I transfered the box of goodies,and here I bed down for the night.
It has been cool all day, all over the state. The weather is a changing. It is indeed the end of summer.

O.K, my Pc innnnnnnnternet card took a dump, so I am just now makinng a log entry.
I am at a petro in Hammond, La, using the basic internet serviice provided with Idle Air service. The keypad is about as cheap annnd crappy as a keypad can get.Bb annd I am having a marginnnaal timee in doing this.
Left Lucernnne Vally early onnn saturday. It was chilly, and as a result, the air regulator under the hood gavve me a bad time. I left juust after 6.
Hwy 247 to I-10 east with a stop in Inddio for fuuel aannd a sshower. (God, look at my entriies. This keypad suucke. In the ffutuure, whhenn youu see entries like this, I an using an Idle Air system.)Connntinuudd on my way.
Madfe itt most of thhe way thrrruu Nnew Mexiiiccco by the end of my shift. Bedded down wiiith a start timme of 3 A.M Sunnday.
The next morrning, it was really hot and humid andIi have liittle money on my Idle Air card, so I opt to wait unntil my doown time to uuse it inn Louisiaana whhere it will be nastiier still. Ii diiscover my internnet P.C. card is damaged annd will nott hold a conjnection. Ii need a new up too date pc, not an old onne.. I start my day.
Once past El Paso, it is a long hhaaaul too San Antionio. Usuually I sttop iin Junction, Tx at a BBQ place, but Iii havee liittle cash, so I opt foor thhe Pet uffet nro bbu on the east of AAAAAAnnntionio. I ennnddd my day, as unevenntful as yyyesterday, juust west oof Hhustton II have a start time of Midnight of Mondaaaay morning. I get little sleep.
Monday morning I start my run. Iii stop in a small town loves, I forgot the mame, but I have been there dozenns of times, I sshower up annd conntinuue. I cross the border juust as the red ssun is climbing into the semi ccccloouudy sssky.
I-110 to Bbaton Rouge where I top off my tanks, and take I-12 too eexxiiit 336 scale, thhe third sacllle Ii hit in this state. The pulled me in to tell me thhe state is fining me $500 for having an expired DOT. I call to get a t-chk to pppay the man, and am told by Mack tomorroow, he just forgot, he has new ddot numbers for me tp put on. Ii wwwwwwonder if I will have to pay the fine. Ii hope not. H aalready. Iss trying to get me to forget about 900 bucks hsaid hhe deposited but really did not. Does he really think I aan a ddummy because I am not of his decent?
I go off dduuuty at exit 400 Petro, where I wait until morning to drop my loadf. I noticed a paallot was leaninng over, annd I hoper that is the extentt of thhe load damage, a couple of squuashhed boxes. I call veriiizzzzzon annnd ooorder a new PC card annd ssoftware, and have a buffet lunch annd bed ddowwn, Idle Air going full blast.

Just hung around Petro, watchinf movies and ddoing some tinkering. Mack gave me a new dot number, but neither petro nor pilot have mail box letters. I have to wait until tomorrow, drop the trailer, and bobtail into town.
Eating too mu7ch, as usual.
Just saw deja vu. The movie.
What if you had to tell someone somthing very important, but were afraiiid you would not be belived?
If you were me, you would still try.
Another movie, called next is out. Abouut a guuy who sees the future, and the feds want him as a oricle... In reality, no one would want ann average person to see events. Only right wing non demoocrats to be oricles. Mayby why we no longer see children play pianooos at age 5, or read stories at age 2, because they die before the age thhey learn pianos or readinng. The milk cartonns are thhe clue. No presedennt is ordering it done, juuust nutty righhhht wingers with graunder visions of themselves as saviors. Cannot let non-white WASP types see thhhe future for Hillary, now, can thhey??
Next promises to be a good piiece of fiction. Reality is too scummy, so fictionalize it.

Labled new dot numbers on my rig this morning. Had to turn down a load. Dispatch wanted me to pick up while out of hours and I would have had to go thru two scales to get to the shipper. Haanging out at the Petro, eating too much, watching moviies.
led the office for a load. Got into an argument with the dispatcher over my not accepting a load when I was out of hours. He threatened to leave me in La. fgor a few more days to punish me, so I called Mack to complain. Mack advisedd me earlier to refuse loads iif iiiii could get into trouble. About an hour later, I wass dispatchhed to aa tint town South of Nnnew Orleanns.
What a confusing route. I arrived at thhe shipper with time to spare. I had my reefer precooled, aannd was looaded with drumss of a chhhemical detergent(?) going to Carson, Ca. From thhhere, it gets shipped to China.
A detergennt thhat has to be kept at minus 5 degrees? O.K.
I worry my way back to I-10 west, annd across the lakke to fuel up annd shower at a truck sstop at exiit 209. Then I conntinue on my way.
Late that night, I pull into San Antoino foor tttthhe nighht. It 04 Oct )7 .
The next day, around 9, I start on my way. It is a long haul to El Paso aand points west, and so I stop in Junction, Tx at Coopers BBQ, a regular stop to eat. Damn! Priiiiices went up. Just over 15 bucks for a chicken plate! Daaamn!
A few stops to top off my ssssoda bottle, aand Early evening, I cross the border into N.M. My air is acting up in a new way. I have a hissing from under the dash, somehow associated with the parking brake. While I drive, I have to listen to it. Off duuty in Lordsburg N.M, not far from the Az. line. It is going to be a fast trip. I will be haanging around somewhere Sunday, waiting until Monday, to drop.

Up early. At 6 AM, (7 local) I continue on my way.
Flew thru Az to exit 200, where I found an accessable starbucks across the Loves. I fueled, showered, and had brunch, and got an iced americano to go, and continued.
Pulled into indio late afternoon. Topped off my tanks, and drove on up to Lucerne Valley. Met Tooter, the lady who collects my mail at the market, and got my mail. I just realized I am a week late with my rent and utilities to both Tooter and Linda, Linda, who owns the land my trailer is parked, and Tooter, who I get electric and water and sewage. I have to pay them up at least a few months ahead and soon.
Had a beer, watched Lords of Flatbush, and went to bed.
Sunday morning I had nothing but trouble airing up my truck. Called Mack, and he said I could crimp up some plastic air lines going to the compressor and untie them when I am filled. Got to get this fixed soon. Drove to Peppe, just back from the circus season. He had a fedex for me. My new Verison Access Card and software. When I got home(I borrowed Lindas car) I spent over an hour with customer service on the phone before we got the system up and running. It seems towork well. Turned on the Yaesu and listened on 40, but shut it down to watch videos and prepare a meal. I will work on the truck later.

After playing with my air a while, it started to work properly. Mack said the engine just had to heat the bendix up, so I just have to keep the engine running until I get the truck in for service. With this in mind, at about 8 PM, I hooked up to my trailer, and drove to the market.
I cashed a small check, betting I can get some cash in my account before I run into trouble, had some dinner, and took a nap until early Monday at 1 AM. I then took Hwy 1 west to Apple Valley, Victorville and I-15 sout.
The scale was shut down. I boogied to the I-10 west, on to the I-710 south to Hwy 91 west to Compton. The BOL says Corona, but the destination is actually Compton. I bed down until opening at 7 AM in the yard. My logbook is now reset, maybe I can get another half a day with the "magic Pen."

I did not get unloaded until 4 that afternoon. Called dispatch. Return to Lucerne Valley, pick up a load of dirt at one of the mines and deliver to a small town near Fresno. I leave after a quick nap at 8 PM.
91 east to I-710 northy to I-10 east to I-15 north. Slid thru the empty lane at the scale in the pass, and hit Bear Valley Road to hwy 18 east to Lucerne, and up to the mines.
Got loaded just before midnight. Drove down to the truck parking area at the market. Off duty for the night.

I am sure I am overweight, and besides, so many things are wrong witht he truck if I am inspected I will be put out of service, and have to pay bucks for road servive to fix it. So, I take hwy 19 thru Apple Valley, Victorville to I-15 south to Hwy 18 west. Into Antalope Valley, it meets and becomes hwy 138, which I take to Hwy 14. I take 14 north to Hwy 138 again, which I take west to the grapevine, I-5, north. I take the grade, and stay on I-5 at the 5/99 split to Lost Hiklls. At loves, I fuel and shower, and an on my way again. Hwy 46 east to hwy 99 north and on toward Fresno. At hwy198 east I* go to Woodlake, out in the farmland.
I reach my destination about 4, and unloat. Afterward, I return to 99 north to fresno. I do a trailer washout, for I had limestone powder in the trailer, and drop the trailer at the terminal. I then go to Selma, the rasin capitol of the world to find a cheap motel.
I check in about 6, order a pizza, watch ST- Voyager, and open the computer. Tomorrow, I will go to the terminal to do repairs on the rig, and try to get paid and borrow a car to make a bank deposit.
Whew! That dodging the weigh stations and living on the edge of financial ruin sounds rough. I like my boring but steady job a little better now. ;)

I don't mean any disrespect, but an overweight truck with mechanical problems should not be on the road. Fix it first!

Up at 7. Bath. and out the door. It is raining lightly. Truck started, but system not airing up. Messed with it a while, then shut it down and went back to my room and the TV.
Just after 10, I tried it again. System aired up, and I amon my way.
At the terminal, the mechs worked on the trailer first. Early afternoon, they worked on my truck. Replaced the bendix, and repaired the leak under the dash, and repaired the turn signal switch so I will have fewer mishaps on the road.
Found out 500 was deposited in my checking account. Now I can pay a few bills. Got in touch with the IRS lady who had left messages on my voice mail She will call tomorrow, when her computer is up.
Early evening, i went to a Fresno Motel, got some burgers across the street, and am watching the tube while working with the computer.

Thursday morning, I left my motel room after a free brunch, and drove toward the shop. I have stopped smoking cigars, having taken up cigarrettes again. Just cannot dump that habit.
At the terminal, I got my drivers seat replaced. The one I had with the truck was disingrating inside, and dust like particals of foam rubber always seemed to litter the floor of the truck. Well now, I was nearly sitting on bare metal, and we all decided it needed replacement.
I had to back into the loading dock, and fire up another truck and hook up to another trailer to back that to the loading dock, too. I had to transfer a load of apples going to San Antionio from that trailer to mine. The bill said I was loading 40000, but I know it is more. A mechanic operated the forklift, and soon, I was loaded. My reefer unit was finally serviced, too.
Mack told me I had a dot now applied for, aand a number I will put on my truck. He gave me the address to a guy he uses to decal up the doors. I take a nap in the guys waiting room.
Just after 5 PM< "HEWES TRANSPORTATION" is now displayed on the doors of my rig. All numbers are displayed on the cab, with "LEASED TO MNG LOGISTICS" with a dot were on a corner of the cab. My truck number is now MNG-02. My head swelled.
Got a call from the IRS lady, Ms. Houston. She said I can have 30 more days extenstion to pay 2005 and 2006 in full, before she voids my offer in comprimise from years ago. If I do not pay those years up in 30n days, I am screwed to the tune of 30 grand more, and 2007 taxes upcomong to boot. Business seems a little more complicated than the last time I ran my own shop, so many years ago.
I am on my way, to San Antionio. Hwy 99 south, to Selma. Weigh load. I was right. My weight with nearly full fuel is just under 80000, which means I loaded at least 43000 in Fresno.
Hwy 99 south to hwy 58 east. Getting dark now, and cooling off a bit, too. I pull the grade with more energy than I have done so before, it seems. Up and over to Mojave for a head and soda break, and on to I-15 to I-40 east.
I-40 on a moonless night is really cool, expecially when you get away from all the city lights, and bring binoculars, to stargaze. The sky is just awash in stars. Orion is making it's way over the eastern sky, as I continue on my way.
It is about 3 in the morning of Friday, when, after taking hwy 95 south in Needles, I find myself in Blyth, Ca, just a few miles from the Az. border. I go off duty now. Will continue on in the early afternoon.

Up about 10. A short hop across the Az. border brings me to Flying J. Breakfast(Gotta stay away from that Buffett) and laundry, and it is near noon. I shoot over to the 10000 video store, and find a twilight zone movie, the one spielburg made, where an actor and a child died during filming. It has a variation of the Billy Mumy character, where the cornfield becomes cartoonland. An, of course, let us not forget the classic a remake of , "Terror at 20000 feet, "with out favorite ,Bill Shatner, once and for all demostrating acting is behaving normally, and the emotional recall process is his only source. (HIHIHIHIHI)

When it is close to departure time, I zip on down to Quartzsite, Az. to fuel up at Love's, and take a quick shower. I call Andy, get a 100 dollar t-chk authorized, take 60 dollars from my checking, and continue on.
On the other side of Phoenix is Gila River Casino. I zip on in about 3 ish, and enter.
Up to 400 dollars. I have more than doubled what I walked in the door with. Now, Robert, you know what is going to happen next. You either walk out that door, and use it to pay a few bills, or you are going to stuff slot machines in a vain attempt at making enough to cover your tax liability for the past few years, saving your business and keeping out of jail.DAMN! 400 bucks. Pay those bills! Put it back in the machines. I look around me.Friday afternoon, the casino if filling up. I wander around, lookijng for a suitable machine, clutching my winnings in my fist,intent on financial ruin.
And I leave the casino, with a 10 dollar bill in my wallet. Damn!
It is O.K. to gamble, but if the God in the Machine sees fit to only give you so much, take it and run. If you were going to win a bundle, you will win it the first few minutes of your visit.
East on I-10, thru Tucson, on toward N.M. I cross the border later that evening, and continue on toward Texas, which I run into a few hours later. Now I spent a few hours at the casino, but did not log it. It is actually after midnight on the 13, but the magic pen goes to work later, and at Van Horn, Tx, I go off duty right at Midnight of the 12 th.

A short trip today. Up and out by 10, a stop at Junction, Tx for an early dinner at Cooper's BBQ, and on to San Antionio. I-10 east to I-35 north, eyeballed my delivery offramp and continued north to a TA truckstop. It is early evening, and with a 2 hour difference, I will try to get a little sleep before going south to drop my load.
No no no. Don't "go South". Uhm. Take a sutherly direction.

Early morning. Drove to destination, and hung around for about 2 hours until the lumpers got around to offloading my truck. $75 lumper fee. Pirates. Late that morning, I continued south on I-35 to I-10 east to the Petro truck stop. Topped off my tanks, and parked. I will be here until monday at the earliest.
It is warm and muggy out, with coupious clouds travelling east across the skies. Had lunch. (Gotta stay away from that buffett.)Watched a movie with Jack Nickolson about a retired police detective who just cannot get a case out of his life. He befriends a woman and her child, and uses the child as bait . He has a suspect all lined up, but the movie ends on the note that it should. The suspects mother died in an auto accident, she was the real killer, it seems, and the woman broke off relations with Jack when learning what he was doing. The final scene finds him an old, broken down has been, a drunk, sitting in front of a gas station gone downhill after he finally flipped, and he is talking incoherantly to himself. Camera pans back into a dolly shot to let the theater audience see what had become of him.

No load assignment today. It is damn hot and muggy, and I have seen all the movies on the truckstop theater list.

Got a call mid morning from dispatch. Drive to Pharr<tx. and pick up a reefer load. So about 10, I start on my way.
I-10 west to I-37 south to hwy 281 south. It is a good 4 hour drive, and I arrive late afternoon local. An hour to load up peppers, 33000 worth, a stop to scale out, just in case, a little adjustment, for I an way light in the trailer tandoms, and off I go.
Late evening, I stop in San Antoino to fuel up, and then I continue. West I-10 thru San Antoino, and on to Junction, Tx, where I complete a days log entry, for it is midnight. I start a new log, and drive on for another hour, going off duty at a Sonora, Tx. rest area. Altogether, not a bad day for driving. A bit muggy, but cool in the evening.
Went on hamsexy and left a little somthing for them to play with overnight. (HEHEHE)>

Discovered 460 dollars was deposited in my checking account. Wrote two checks for my nearly a month old New Mexico tickets, and withdrew 200 cash. Earlier I tried to monkey with the CB, but it is dead. Too expensive to fix. too much hassle to fix myself, cheap enough to buy a new one. I bought a new antenna kit, for I want to get rid of the aquard co-pased set to a single antenna.
The IRS cannot wait. Gotta brainstorm a way to deal with them.
I-10 thru Texas to New Mexico. Just getting dark out. Made it thru New Mexico, and into Arizona. Fueled up and showered. Near midnight I am off duty in Casa Grande. I got a t-ck advance, so I have 22 bucks to gamble with when I pass thru Gila River tribe Casinos. Maybe I will win enouge to pay off the IRS. I sure as heck not going to earn it between now and 11 NOV.

Took all of 8 hours to go to The L.A. area. I cannot even show up until after midnight, for it will be a madhouse, so I am hanging out in Glendale,Ca. Starbucks.
Tried to log on Hamsexy, but get only a blank page. HMMMMMM. I only held up a mirror, and a few of the monkeys went nuts over it. It was real funny. Maybe you can log on and read some of the idiots reactions to seeing their own reflections. They say lower lifeforms cannot tell a reflection from another like animal. Maybe that was their problem.
Anyway, my status there seems to be up in the air. I do not get a banned notice, but I cannot go th COPSEXY to slam the monkeys cage. I would rather be banned .It would be an honor.

Spent half an hour in the casino. 200 bucks became 350, then, down to zero. I have played the machines enough to know that if it pays out anything, that is all you are getting. Shame on me.
Got a shimmi in my front end. Hope it is not drive train. Had that problem with a bad u joint. It shook loose most of the bolts holding the transmission housing halves together with that one. I really needed more work than Mack said I needed, and it could be related to that. I hope not.
Have a P,M, scheduled this week. Will deal with it. It seems when I get the rig into inspection order, somthing else crops up.

Took hours before I finally got unloaded at the Ladestination.Dispatch called, I am tp pick up in Ciry of industry. Drove on over. A plant for processed foods . Loaded with unknown. 41000 lbs. I decide to brave the Santa Clarita scale.
I-5 north on toward the bay area. Just before 9 pm, I arrive about Stockton, a tiny town south. It takes minutes to offload,. Dispatch asked my o spend the night in Santa Nells. I do so.

Up early. Call from dispatch. Two pick ups, one Salinas, theo other near I-5 in a tiny, tiny town near three rocks, population 105. rove to terminal.
Took hours to do a PM, for when they tried to determine the source of my shimmy, they decided it was in the drive train. Mack found a flaw in my new u-joint, and they dropped the driveshaft to inspect the whold drivetrain. Replaced u-joint. Late afternoon, I am off. I still have a shimmy. I now belive it is in the bearings of the right steer wheel.
Took just a few minutes to load up, and I am off to Salinas. I-5 north to hwy 152 west to hwy 101 south. Drove thru town to destination. Just another few minutes to load upm set reefer to 35, for I have a mixed cargo of fresh veggies, and I am off.
hwy 101 south to hwy 46 east, thru the James Deam Memorial Junction to Lost hills. It is late evening, although I must use the magic pen if I ever hope to reach Temple Tx Wal Mart by the morning of the 24 th. A shower and laundry at Loves, and on to Hwy 99 south to hwy 58 east. I am lightly loaded at 68000. and I fly up and over Tehatchapi to Mojave. I go off duty in Kramer Jctn. Gotta get up early, so I can cram as many hours of driving in as few a days as possible.
It is getting cooler at night. It is fall.

58 east to 247 south to the qth, where I drop off stuff I bought and pick up a coax connector. Then it is on the road again.
247 to I-10 east, a stop in Indio for fuel and a break, and on to Az. High wind advisories all along the way. It was windy in Mojave and Barstow and at the qth too.
Near end of shift, I am almost thru Az. I go off duty at the "Thing". I-10 exit 322, Az.

In my last workplace, the carnival, I minded my own business and associoated with other drivers pretty much exclusivly. I still had the word out, and later I found out why, although I suspected it.
I was asked to guard the rear gate to a carnival lot. A high school kid walked up and asked for the wife to a turd who was making my life difficult. She was also, making sure everyone knew I was a snitch, which I was not. I told the kid she was not there, to come back later. A few minutes later, another high school kid asked for her. I realized what was going on, and ran him off, and was instantly surronded by carnies angry I was not minding my own business. I told them to sell drugs from another gate, one I was not responsible for. Then I said if they continued,I will be the snitch I am accused of being.
When the season was over, I made sure management knew what occured that day, and who was involved. I kept my mouth shut all the time I was there, But I left because I felt it was not acceptable, and told management so they will keep an eye on that sort of thing, and I really wanted a little revenge too, and got some satisifiayion knowing the turd and his wife had less control over the goingson then they were used to having.
I cannot stand turds like that, and WTF exemplifies turdship.

The existance of this website and knowledge of it.s existance by the public at large seems to trouble some persons to an extreme. So far as I know, this is why I am being ramrodded, letting the general public at large know of it;s existance.
I have no problems with the badcopnews website. I have a problem with your posts alluding to illegal logs, unsafe and hence illegal safety issues with your truck, fuel tax evasion, etc.
Trying to pay your taxes and work your job from gambling winnings is another issue which you need to seek professional help with IMHO.
You do nothing about trying to improve your language skills nor do you even try. This smacks of either laziness or serious lack of education, neither of which have any place in the trucking industry.
Trucking industry has enough of a bad image and you do nothing to help improve it with these posts.

I am no longer posting drivers diary. The topic is being taken over by persons who chased me out of two forums, and wish to do so here, too.
I wish to appeal to forum management about this.
Let me get this straight. You stirred the poo at hamsexy, bragged about it here, and now want to appeal to management because it's becoming odoriferous.
When you fart in the cab of your truck, do you stop and ask someone else to roll down the window for you?
As to your appeal, it will be given all the consideration it deserves.
First, I am not evading fuel tax. Every gallon that goes into the reefer tank has taxes on it that are paid. It is easier on bookeeping just to pay the few cents a gallon, and I am able to utilize the 55 gallons in an emergency without breakin laws. I made that clear, but you choose to ignore that, and state I break federal laws to annoy me.
Second, I am not bragging about anything. I do my best to keep my rigin inspection order, but it is an older truck, and I thought people would understand this, when they see, when I can, I repair a problem that arises. And, if I feel it is immediatly life threatening, I fix it on the road, right away, usually for twice the cost at repairing it at my terminal.
As far as the accusation of illetricy here, an illeterate person is unable to communicate valid points of view. He or she is part of the general public at large, and usually is discounted when opinions are searched for. Like some of the people here who have a problem with badcopnews.com choke on it, but cannot admit it, for they cannot even collect their own thoughts.
I am engaging in stream of comsiousness lititure here. What goes thru my mind is what I type, no editing, no proof reading, just pure naked thought as I am thinking it. Of course, the persons who choose to state I am illeterate do not know what SOC is, not having a very literate background. You are circling the pack of fuctional illeterates, you codeless wonders. What can you expect from a state that offers the CDL test in the language of your choice??
Last time I looked, the FMCSR stated in black and white that "A driver MUST have sufficient command of the English language to comprehend road signs, communicate with
customers/law enforcement, and prepare required paperwork".
And California has shown that it will issue a CDL to just about ANYONE that still has a pulse and respiration.
NQ6V is living proof of that.
I, on the other hand, am a local driver. I have no need to exceed the HOS, as I am home within 14 hours of starting my day. And, since I do transport hazmat, I CAN'T run illegal. Arizona DPS will check my logs against my bills of lading, my fuel tickets (we use CFN so the time is on those records), and if the officer feels he needs to, he can check with my banks to see when/where my personal ATM and credit cards were used, and match those to my logbook.
My hazmat endorsement on my CDL is permission for law enforcement to do all this.

And the main client who needed children, and he tried it with me, at Van Nuys airport, When I was a CAP cadet, was then Govener Ronald Regan. The cop also used actors to pick up children, to take to Regan. And another actor, when it was learned I was learning to fly and that just would not do, attempted to set me up by creating a phoney stalking senerio.

I think I'll just go elsewhere and play out of respect for you and all of the other members here except, of course, nq6v. Over time, and with some luck, evidence of my being a member here may become harder and harder to locate so as n00Bz come by to join, they may not notice that I actually belong to a forum used by nq6v. The embarrassment and humiliation I would endure by being perceived as one of his forum pals would be a fate worse than death.

Man, I just don't get this whole deal. The 6 call dude driving the truck has departed. I brought this thread to the attention of the administrators, and honestly, only one has had a chance to look it over. You did notice no moderators had been assigned to this forum, right? I have the same options as you guys here in this forum.
I don't like what the guy said ... it pisses me off to no end when someone has to stoop so low as to attack someone's family member, but allow me to point out that that POS "Mong" has been getting some good old boy back slaps for attacking this dudes Mom over on qrz.

I have not encouraged or ignored anything at Hamsexy, I'm not a mod or even a very regular poster there. The messages you are talking about are gone as well, I just went there to see exactly what you were talking about, so the moderators there have done what they do. I DID NOT give any backslaps to the person who posted that, BTW. Sorry you see things the way you see them. Tom didn't either, but he can speak for himself.
