Absolutely! I'll pull taught the support ropes on the dipole and get that extra 5' of elevation. Watching the storm off the coast of the Carolinas ... and hoping the static crashes won't be so awful bad.

Looking forward to it!

Ryan and I actually did a CW QSO recently. Imagine that! I heard you're a CW guy yourself! We have to give it a go with the paddles sometime. I can do almost 3 wpm now ...

Sure no problem!

I've got my vertical with about 20 radials for 40m. I'll be adding more until I run out of holes on the radial plate!

It's pretty busy in the neighborhood of 7230, and I was also listening to the LA station on 7228.6 .

Right now, 7235 is quiet, as is 7238. Static not too bad, not as bad as I thought it would be.

If anyone wants to call, I'm sitting on 7235 listening, while I try to reassemble a deskjet printer (HP) that I just put a drive belt in. What a PITA.

Mike was 59, but had to go QRT because of the lightning storm.

The good news is that my STeppIR MonstIR is coming in on Friday so I should be much louder when I put it up in a couple weeks.

Maybe we can also try 75m one night.

Great to work you again Ryan, wow, multiple times in one day after no success for a long time indeed. Absolutely a pleasure to finally get to work you Audie, funny how less than 4MHz shift brought you from zilch to peaks at 60 over S9. Like I said guys, I will be hanging around 3.915 in the evenings after the SC SSB Net, right around 00:00Z and can still be found on 60m channel 4 in the mornings around 12 to 13:00Z. Thanks again and I will be looking forward to doing it again very soon. ;)

Guys, that was great! Enjoyed talking to Ryan again, and getting to work Tom for the first time. I just wish it could have gone on longer. You guys both had excellent signals on 80m, but Tom and I just couldn't get it done on 40m, probably just too close.

I'm up for another as my schedule permits, but I do keep some strange hours. Thanks for the QSO, guys!

Yeah, I got skunked. Heard you calling Ryan on 7235. Light copy on you, also.

I thought my antenna was messed up, but a quick check with a buddy on 75 meters put that to rest. 40 meters was just long, and I was in the middle of everyone. Luck of the draw!

SFI was poor as well, which will affect 40 meters to some degree. I think the solar flux right at my sunset was like 69.

I'm not discouraged ... band conditions will improve. One day, we'll have 15-20 of us on frequency, all enjoying armchair copy!

Hey Kery, I guess that was pretty rude to just pop off to the bottom of 80m like that, but I was looking for a quiet spot where the three of us could head to right quick like. I will be on 3.915 for and as well as after the SC SSB net this evening, so jump in if you want after the net. I'll be there as long as the girls don't make some dinner plans in Greenville again or something.

Isn't that strange ... Sunday night was horrible for me, and tonight Paul was armchair copy. We had an extremely pleasant 30-40 minute chat.

As winter approaches, the lower bands will settle down a bit, and this should get a little easier.

Normally in the mornings I can be found on 5.371.5, it was suggested that as the SC SSB Net is on 3.915, it might make sense to linger around on there after the net (about 00:30z or so), so yes, I will make an effort to hang out there. If the grayfaces get long winded, it can be a bit unnerving, but usually they are tolerable and fun to chat with too. Tonight and tomorrow night I will be at the salt mine though, but will be back on HF Friday evening.

Ahhh yes, Morgannwg as my Dad called it. I think we actually moved to Virginny because of your disproportionate amount of Welshies there, truth be known. He was from Brecon and the Brecon Beacons are likely the single spot in the UK that compares to the beauty of where you live. There’s plenty of Welshies around these parts too, mainly via Pennsyltucky after they found out there is life beyond the mines. Here’s a linky to Dad’s hood, I think you might agree it’s not too shabby looking of a spot. http://www.breconbeacons.org/

I knew you would say that. Funny how when we would travel half way around the world (which today’s equivalent might be traveling to Mars) to be bold, brave, in search of adventure and opportunity, as soon as we find a place that reminds us of ‘home’, we say, “Hey, this looks like a nice spot, I think I will stay here and name it after ‘X’.” Somehow, I get the feeling that when we find out the secret to interstellar travel and make it to the end of the universe, if there’s not a Circle K or a 7 – 11 there where we can get a cherry or Coke Slushi, we’ll be disappointed. Man I really need to retire my old copy of Douglas Adams ‘The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy’ to the back of the book shelf, it’s going to ruin me. ;)
