Saw this at the liquor store so I bought a bottle.

Description off the bottle says:

"Exceptionally smooth blended whiskey with real honey and natural flavors."

Tried it on the rocks and I am somewhat confused if I like it or not. It is sweet...very sweet. Not sure if on the rocks is the best way to drink this. It will make a wonderful mixer for sure. The whiskey is overpowered by the honey if you ask me. Almost tastes like a sweet mead rather than a whiskey.

Sounds interesting at any rate. I spotted a bottle of 'Feckin' Irish Whiskey' at the store the other day. I'm still thinking about going back for it. I prefer a good single malt, but every now and again it's good to dig in to a cheap bottle of rotgut.

I tried a bottle of mead a couple years ago. Too sweet. I liked the way it played on my tongue and the way the flavors flashed off, but just too sweet.

I've made mead, it was very potent. But I never liked too much sweet in the booze.

Every try Bulleit Bourbon?

I managed to ferment mead much drier than expected and it was very popular. The repeat process didn't achieve the same result, I wish I'd paid attention to the minute details the first time round.

As for adding honey to everything, is it a device to disguise some brews which didn't turn out right or are there some seriously sweet tooths out there?

I have made mead as well. It was ok, but not as good as this stuff.

I buy from Mike on a regular basis. Tastes range from sweet to very dry. The man really knows his mead.

If you were to compare it to Southern Comfort, how would it stand?

Have not had any Southern Comfort in years. Cannot remember what the taste is like for comparison.

May have to buy a mini to give it a taste test.

Used to like Southern Comfort, back in the Atlanta Rhythm Section days.

It's too sweet for my taste now, and I discovered it gives me a bad hangover. But once in a while I still have a "Brown Sugar"...

2 shots of Southern Comfort
Half of a fresh squeezed lime
Orange juice and ice to fill the glass...

It's yummy, and potent.

Make a deal? This weekend you get the mini of SoCo, and I'll get the mini of Honey?

It's that time again, I had to run to the DMV and renew. It so happens that there is a nice liquor store right next door. I found this:

We're having a cookout at work on Friday. Ribs. The owner of the shop just bought a new grill and it arrived today. When I left for the DMV it was out behind the shop being seasoned. It's one of these: http://muletuf.com/ Anyway, we're going to take a late lunch and then go home when we're done eating. My birthday is close enough and St Patricks day is fast upon us so I bought a couple boxes of Smithwicks and Guinness to contribute to the rib feast. I figure a couple shots of the tequila won't hurt anything. Good thing I can walk to work and stagger back home.
