Anyone want a shot at this before I put it up on ebay?
I bought at a hamfest and was told "fine business, nothing wrong."
Got it home and there was occasional break up on receive and transmit. Very light, like a small static crash for a half second. Happens randomly. I labored over it for 2 months, searched the net. Closest thing I could find was what Icom described as the rushing water sound. Not the same thing.
Back lights are burned out. Display is fine. I'm sure at this point that the internal battery is near dead. Never used the memory function while I was using it.
Mic and power cord included. I have the instruction manual. If I can't dig it up, as soon as I find it I'll send it.
$200.ºº plus actual shipping ... Paypal
If not, I'll put it up on ebay Thursday night.

I had/have (its out on loan) a 271H. Though I do like it I had a mess of problems with it. Tried to replace the battery when I was done everything read 0 on the display(that was my error not the rigs xD). So I ended up replacing the eprom itself. Was a simple fix. Other issues I had were minor but problems none-the-less. Either way if you can get it working A1 it is a fine rig to have on the desk.

Just throwing in my thoughts there. Cuz we all know I like to share my experiences.

Well it transmits and receives. Very sensitive receive. The occasional break up, crash, whatever, is annoying and at this point, the fix is above my pay grade. I could have gone through and replaced every cap and transistor on the PA board. I was tired of messing with it at that point.

Instruction manual.

Registration required service manual. Icom no longer has any issues with this rig posted on the net

Either way, I'm done with batting zero on this rig.

Hello dear OM,
thanks for reading this bulletin.
I have an Icom IC-271 since several years. Recently the sound in SSB or in CW sometimes becomes raspy, both in TX as well as in RX. The problem is intermittent and also the 'raspyness' varies.

I already found some hints at the Icom America, where they describe a similar problem. They advise to replace electrolytic capacitor C2 and replace 2 plastic trimmer caps by ceramic ones. I tried this, but it did not cure the problem.

Is there anyone out there who has had this problem and knows the solution? Please send me a reply or send an email to amunters at xs4all.nl
Thanks in advance,

Not exactly what I was looking for but it is as close as anything I've been able to find.
In order to replace the old trimmers, you must desolder a large shield. I have the replacement ceramic trimmers, so those come with the package. C2 has already been replaced although the old one was perfectly fine.

I have an IC-251 already... and a Mirage amp to bump 10 watts to 90.

It's the only radio I ever bought that was represented as working, but it wasn't.
Bad PA, hatchet job, no heat sink thermal compound. None.

Ten Tec 2 Meter to 6 meter transverter on it as well, but no amp for 6.

It's a sensitive 'lil booger.

Didja get the LED's fixed? Or is it still "hashy"?

I cheated, and Velcroed the guts of a small DC wall wart inside the case to power mine. It might be a little noisy on AM, but I only use the FM side.

May the sale of this rig get you funded for HF toys...

The YL wants to go to the beach. Camping.
The LED lighting in the Yamaha is going to be revisited today.
No AC lamp. Will filter and make another rectifier.
If this doesn't, the meters will go dark.
