View Full Version : Antennas finally squared away

Well I know that a few months back I tugged on everyones ears about VHF antennas. Over the summer I bought a 2 meter antenna and already had a 432 antenna. I had them up but without a rotor until a few days ago when my son helped me get everything put together. So now I have

13B2 - 2 meters
9 element Cushcraft - 432 MHz
A hacked up Alpha Delta DX-CC - HF
Radio$hack antenna rotor

The DX-CC was given to me by a friend with the 10 meter wire already taken off. I was unable to operate some of the bands I wanted to with it the way it was. Specifically I could not get on 40 meters and only from 3.0 to 4.0 on 80 meters. When I removed the 80 meter coil and the short amount of wire after it I lost 80 but now am able to work 40, 20, 15 and 12 meters. Out of that I'm only interested in 40 and 20 meters anyway so I'm happy with it.

Thanks to all who gave me some input on the antennas, unfortunately due to interference trouble I can't operate 6 meters but it was only a small price to pay.
